When should I put my sprouts on?

Now that the bargains thread is gaining momentum, is it time to put the sprouts on?

I left it til October last year and they were decidedly underdone

I tried stir fried sprouts with garlic once. That was an experience I don't care to repeat. Sprouts yummy, garlic yummy, together, just no!!

A couple of years ago I gave the remainders of the brussels sprouts tree to the Guinea-Pigs. They scoffed down the Christmas Veg trimmings......
next day , the smaller guinea had the most eye-searing wind, and he liked to cuddle up to me and tuck his rump under my chin

70 I made a similar mistake last year. I thought the dog might like a Christmas dinner of her very own.

Labradors and sprouts do not a fragrant household make.
