You are kind, well done Flowers

Sirzy · 23/12/2013 15:38

How lovely :)

Do you have any elderly neighbours locally who may be alone?

Sirzy · 23/12/2013 15:39

or neighbours in general of course, I was just thinking that elderly people often end up alone at christmas

Sadoldbag · 23/12/2013 15:44

Not really already posted this on my Facebook page last week most people have things sorted or feel awkward in asking to come round

But you never know I spent many years on my lonesome for many a Christmas and it's no fun at all

Its lovely that you are putting the offer out there.

We offered for an elderly friend but she refused as she wants to be alone this year, so we have made her some mince pies and shortbread instead.

thehouseoflego · 23/12/2013 15:51

Bless you, how sweet.

Why not pop round and see your friend after lunch or something. I'm sure even a brief visit would be lovely x

ilovesooty · 23/12/2013 15:54

You are lovely. If I were in your part of the country I'dbe taking you up on that very kind offer. I'll be on my own on Christmas day.

Sirzy · 23/12/2013 15:55

Ilove where are you? Perhaps there is another MNer in your area who you could spend the day with?

nessus · 23/12/2013 15:57

SOB, what a charitable gesture. Might be too late for this year but Contact the Elderly would be able to place you with a local elderly person for the day.

Sadoldbag · 23/12/2013 16:30

Oh please don't get me wrong I now have a lovely large family

But would like to pay it forward as they say

We have a spare space at out table do thought why not oh thinks I am mad/lovely at the same time lol

Yanbunseasonable Smile

I would also extend that offer to any one in the midlothian area. We are having a single mums Christmas! No one should feel isolated at Christmas.

To me that is what Christmas is about.

Hulababy · 23/12/2013 18:35

How lovely.

DH's grandad will be alone this Christmas. It is all his chosing though. This year he really doesn't want to spend it with others, he has decided. He will see PILs Christmas Eve and Boing Day but is insistent he doesn't want to do Christmas Day at all.

Funkybutnot · 23/12/2013 18:39

Very kind OP.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 23/12/2013 19:46

What a lovely thing to do Xmas Smile always nice to see some true christmas spirit.

AgentProvocateur · 23/12/2013 19:51

We're having a couple of foreign students who we've never met (and I don't know if they've met each other!) Perhaps you could contact a local uni to see if anyone will be alone.

JetcatisBack · 23/12/2013 20:06

Ahh, that is lovely Xmas Smile I'm not near you, but will be on my own this year as the DC are with their dad who waits until Xmas to play at being dad .

And agreed - you should change your user name!

Misfitless · 23/12/2013 20:22

That brought a tear to my eye, SOB!

Rosvita · 23/12/2013 23:00

StillWearingOddSocks · 24/12/2013 13:41

OP- what a lovely person you are, doubly so because you are reminding us of the true spirit of christmas.

raisah · 24/12/2013 22:55

What a lovely gesture and it is wonderful that you are prepared to be so generous when some people become insular and more selfish than normal.
