I would go for a nice hat and scarf in a cream colour or Clarins hand cream. It is lovely.

Philosophy shower stuff?
Yankee candle?

Book token
Diary

Lush things? A fountain pen?

rara67 · 22/12/2013 10:17

Thanks - have put them on a text to DH! Now wish I could go and get gifts!

Coming from someone who was also once a very mature 19yo student, i would have appreciated anything. However, I second the hat and glove set (accessorize would be a good bet) or a nice notepad from paperchase. A good quality purse or nice make up would have also been a hit.

Thanks - she's a writer and at Uni in North so everything from scarf to pen and handcream are great ideas. Now feeling guilty because left it til the last minute, but I know DSS only started his shopping yesterday!

Preloaded starbucks card - I would have loved this when I was at uni
Smellies
Hat & gloves
treat box of nice versions of essentials - as a poor student this would have been a god send

The students I know tend to prefer snoods to traditional scarves - a lovely big chunky grey or black one would probably go down v well.

Starbucks vouchers are always v welcome.

I wouldn't buy Clarins handcream for a 19 year old - it is lovely but a bit mumsy and v rich: most 19 year olds have better hands than us old hags!

Depending on how much you want to spend, Urban Decay, Benefit and Mac all do lovely things which tend to be v popular with teens.

How about a handbag phone charger? Size of a lipstick, brilliant for emergencies. Argos sell them
