I don't have a Christmas table Sad. It's just my everyday one but I iron the tablecloth.

CalamitouslyWrong · 20/12/2013 22:20

Apparently it's very stylish to combine gold and silver for Christmas 2013. They said so on the poncetastic Christmas programme on the bbc last night with her who inspects crappy b&bs for a channel with adverts (can't remember which, maybe 5).

NoComet · 20/12/2013 22:23

sod, wash and iron table cloth. that's another job I'd forgotten.

No crackers. I have 7 people for dinner (crackers come in sixes) and three wouldn't view them as anything other than a waste of money.

PatriciaHolm · 20/12/2013 22:23

Christmas table?

[sticks head into dining room. Table currently covered in wrap, presents and assorted brown paper and boxes]

Um…..

RedPencils · 20/12/2013 22:25

My Christmas table is my normal table with a Christmaa tablecloth on.

Currently it's not very Christmassy as its piled High with washing, unwrapped presents and other crap.

CalamitouslyWrong · 20/12/2013 22:27

I don't actually own a tablecloth. And I'm not planning on buying one either.

I still need to buy crackers. They seemed you have hidden them in sainsbury's and I couldn't be arsed looking too hard. I'll let the kids choose something gaudy and tat filled.

ShylaMcClaus · 20/12/2013 22:31

Now if you'd said you had a red, gold and green Christmas table, I'd have advised you to print out little pictures of Bob Marley and cover the silver up with them.

The colours you have sound fine Xmas Smile

Creamycoolerwithcream · 20/12/2013 22:32

I got silver everything from poundland. The worlds smallest crackers but they do match.

CiderwithBuda · 20/12/2013 22:35

I have gold cutlery. Well it's brass really but gold coloured. Should use it for Xmas I suppose but it's a nightmare to clean and I haven't opened th box it's in for about ten years so it's probably tarnished.

My table will be red, white and silver with some gold touches I think. So you can do red and gold with silver touches. Put a bowl on the table with a mix of silver and gold baubles in?

BeCool · 20/12/2013 23:46

Fuck I haven't brought crackers!

BeCool · 20/12/2013 23:47

Christmas is destroyed by neglect Shock

WaitMonkey · 21/12/2013 06:47

No crackers ! Shock Christmas is officially over in your house.

I've already bought crackers for next year. [smug] Xmas Grin

SMorgauseBordOfChristmasTat · 21/12/2013 06:50

Cream, gold and bronze here.

You have to buy matching crackers and save the silver ones for NYE.

shoppingbagsundereyes · 21/12/2013 06:55

Get thee all to m and s. Crackers are half price ( wrapping and stuff too). I've bought next year's SILVER crackers! My Christmas table is silver and red.

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 21/12/2013 09:13

Shit. Have totally forgotten to buy any crackers.
I actually hate buying them though. £20 for shitty paper hats which tear, awful jokes for 40 seconds of 'comedy', and a pile of shit ranging from horrific pink hair clips which break before dinner is over, tiny pack of playing cards and a set of shit screwdrivers. Tell me how many of you still have a cracker present from last year?! And the mess, oh the mess! A whole carrier bag full of rubbish. Why? Just why?
Anyway, I'm off out to buy my crackers now...

CiderwithBuda · 21/12/2013 13:42

LOL Hollow. I agree. Was looking at some for £20 and thought no bloody way. So I got mine in Wilkinsons for £5. Red, white and silver.

Might buy some M&S ones today for next year though!

Kbear · 21/12/2013 16:42

but where would you be throughout the year without that set of screwdrivers? I defy you to put batteries in a child's toy without them....

I have been to ASDA twice today (bad memory, forgot stuff!) and refused to waste money on gold crackers (strong will power) but I've just put the silver ones on the table and have decided that after a Tia Maria or six they will look perfect.

Cheers!

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 21/12/2013 17:20

They're so crap, they snap when you try to open the bloody battery compartment!
This year I'm cutting out the middle and am just going to bag up the discarded wrapping paper from presents and just scattering it over the table. Tell a few jokes, no one will be any the wiser and I'd have saved myself £20 Xmas Wink

Taffeta · 21/12/2013 18:46

Ditch the red. Gold and silver combo is where it's at this year, apaz.

Chivetalking · 21/12/2013 18:48

Go with it.

No one will notice too busy troughing and if they do they will be too polite to say anything

ShatnersBassoon · 21/12/2013 18:51

I am Mrs Smug of smug land. The kitchen table, which opens into the main living room, is red golf and green, with red and gold crackers. The dining room is jewel colors (separate tree) with a deep pink table runner and a mix of silver, gold, and jewel colored crackers. Napkins match each table, natch. Crackers are furrin around here, and have instructions on the shelves with the few places that sell them, so sourcing the correct colors took a YEAR of planning.

I had to Skype my parents specially to show off as not one other person in this house notices or cares.

I even got matching pointsettias!

zooweemumma · 21/12/2013 19:06

M and s have lovely gold ones and they are 50 percent off...

CalamitouslyWrong · 21/12/2013 19:36

The M&S I was in today only had seriously crap, astoundingly expensive crackers. Even at half price they were an enormous rip off. So went next door to Lakeland and bought some with finger puppets in them.
