We don't usually do gifts to each other, but the past year has been rubbish and I've not had a lot of patience with him recently, so would like him to have something under the tree, but can't afford much at all.

He's a real geek, loves xmen, ironman sort of films, but already has the DVDs he wants, loves rock, but has the CDs he wants, reads lots, but has plenty on his kindle. He's not into clothes except geeky t shirts, has no other hobbies really except drumming - he'd love a drum kit, but that's for when we win the lottery (no, we don't play)!

Any ideas? Must be online for delivery in time for Christmas.

Thanks.

Takeaway secrets book? £4.49 on amazon and you have 25 minutes to qualify for super saver delivery!

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 19/12/2013 18:38

It has had really good reviews on here before, anyway.

JollySantersSelectionBox · 19/12/2013 18:39

Zombie apocalypse survival guide book?

raisah · 19/12/2013 18:48

Primark had Marvel comic t shirts for men in a brown comic strip presentation box for under £10 last week.

Online might be tricky. Otherwise - edibles (?home made truffles are a doddle); quirky beers/other booze; home made voucher for an experience he might like - drum lesson(s)?; nice meal etc. Are there any board games/apps etc that might suit his geekiness?

SolidGold · 19/12/2013 19:03

Thanks, will take a look at the books. Can't get to Primark Hmm

Drum sticks and a money box that says drum kit fund with £1 in it.

SunnyRandall · 19/12/2013 19:47

I've done dh a little hamper of his fave snacky things - nice crackers for cheese, pickles, posh crisps, nice choc, popcorn, fizzy cola bottles (Hmm), pork scratchings, bottle of cider etc. Just need to get some cheeses. He is difficult to buy for and I didn't have much money.

I just walked round m&s chucking stuff in my basket and it was under £20 in total (cheese still to get obvs).

SunnyRandall · 19/12/2013 19:48

Sorry just read the online delivery clause. Ignore my entire post.

Stevie77 · 19/12/2013 20:04

Not on the high street have some good geeky tshirts, Sheldon Cooper style. Don't know about delivery though...

SolidGold · 19/12/2013 20:04

Sunny, that's not a bad idea. I can get to a supermarket, just not into town. What are you using as the hamper?

SunnyRandall · 19/12/2013 20:15

Um well yes I had to dig an old amazon box out of the recycling bin and tastefully cover it in wrapping paper. Not quite what I had planned but I forgot about that bit Blush

MerryBuddha · 19/12/2013 20:15

I have done my Dh a hamper too. I use a old shoe box and covered it in Christmas paper, added the presents and use left over tissues paper to wrap it all up in, with a bow at the top. Very homemade look but think he will be pleased!!

Nix01 · 19/12/2013 20:27

Lovefilm subscription or similar?

SolidGold · 19/12/2013 20:31

Some great ideas, thanks.

this is quite geeky - DH has the shoulder bag but that is twice the price.

ILikeToClean · 19/12/2013 20:52

I've done the same as SunnyRandall, box with some funky beers, Percy Pigs and Colin Caterpillars, liqueurs, monster munch - all silly stuff that he particularly likes to eat but not expensive as we tend to focus on the DDs' presents rather than each other. I've also got him a stock up of shaving foam and razor blades!

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 19/12/2013 22:54

Oh I did a hamper the first year we were together, themed it around cherries as that's his favourite flavour - I got everything cherry I could find. From what I can remember, cherry tobacco, cherry soap (body shop), fizzy cherry cola bottles, cherry drops, cherry menthol chewing gum, cherry candy cane, cherry scented candle and a cherry scented gel pen. Went down a storm Grin he still talks about the "cherry box".

I used a child's shoe box, it wasn't very big.

Gladvent · 19/12/2013 23:09

You could get him a geeky magazine at supermarket to go in his hamper.

IsleOfRight · 19/12/2013 23:41

Finger drums. (Search on amazon and see what I mean)

BitOfFunWithSanta · 19/12/2013 23:49

SolidGold, are you aware that there is a very prolific longtime poster called SolidGoldBrass? I only bring it up because it might be confusing for people and you might not want to be mistaken for a Morris-dancing sexual adventurer Xmas Smile.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 20/12/2013 08:50

Is SolidGold not SolidGoldBrass then? I thought it was just a name change?

Gladvent · 20/12/2013 10:14

I thought OP was SolidGoldBrass gone a bit fluffy!

SolidGold · 20/12/2013 17:48

No, I'm not SolidGoldBrass. Not a Morris dancer either. I'm not copying her name either, just picked it because I fancied a name change recently.
