Help my Christmas pudding vodka taste horrible

It tastes a bit like medicine, I put more sugar in and it taste better but not great. What can I do to make it taste better as I'm meant to be giving it as gifts? Thanks.

I've stuck a vanilla pod in mine. It smells lovely.
