What would make a good alternative to mince pies?

DC don't like minces pies and DD has asked if I can make some chocolate pies instead. This sounds like a good idea but I can't find a recipe.

Has anyone made anything that's the same size as minces pies?

Thanks.

jam tarts maybe?

Make them like jam tarts; make pastry cases using sweet pastry. Melt chocolate in a bowl over boiling water, add a spoonful of Nutella or double cream or caramel. Pour into cooled pastry cases and refrigerate to set.

these sound yummy!

I used to make layered pudding using what we had and around Christmas time there was usually a layer of Christmas pudding/cake between some icecream and layer of fruit or yogurt. It introduced the flavours alongside the more familiar.

They still don't like Christmas pudding/cake, though!

A pastry case with carnation caramel in the bottom topped with chocolate ganache! They are yummy but sickly I normally use a tiny muffin tin!

I make my DC jam tarts or nutella tarts (put nutella in pastry case and bake for 10mins ish)

I've just made a bunch of mini christmas pudding pies - basically following the recipe for christmas pudding (though in much smaller quantity) - and using twice the amount of flour plus a few spoonsful of cocoa powder. Spoon this into pastry cases and bake for 20 minutes. When cool, I made an icing which was half way between brandy-butter and vanilla icing (there could be as much as 1ml of brandy per pie, not enough to intoxicate a small child but makes it more christmassy) and piped this over the tops of the pies.

I've made and frozen these cranberry and pear pies. Tested one and they are goooood!

How about mini banoffee pies? The carnation recipe that is linked to on that page is really delicious and easy to make!

I make mini mince pies (topped with a pastry star)and at the same time fill some with just a TS of good raspberry jam (topped with a pastry heart). All in the same mini muffin tin, same pastry and same coking time. They always go down well and no extra effort.
