Yule log recipe

I am going to attempt to make a Yule log, I'm fairly competent in the kitchen except when it comes to baking!

Does anyone have a fool proof recipe I can try? Thank you!

yule logs are one of my favourite Christmas treats! you may think my version is a bit of a cheat if you want to have a completely homemade one- I buy a chocolate swiss roll, make chocolate buttercream icing and smother it all over the swiss roll with a fork to make if look a bit like bark. for the full wow factor, I cut a second swiss roll diagonally and use the smaller end to make a branch off the first swiss roll and smother it all in buttercream, then dust a bit of icing sugar on the top using a sieve to look like it has a dusting of snow! you want the buttercream to be on the solid rather than runny side, and it takes a good few hours for the buttercream to set and form a bit of a crust, so its good to make the day before if you can resist tucking in!
