I've just done baubles and then lights. It was ok. Not ideal, but ok!

Lights, tinsel, baubles is, in fact, the only way to do it. Any other way is just wrong. Including leaving out the tinsel WTF is wrong with you people?! A tree without tinsel is like... ummmm.... Christmas Pud without brandy butter!

I don't have tinsel but not because I don't like it, I have it elsewhere in the house but just can't ever get it to look right on the tree. It's always wonky and ends where you can see

Oh you should never put tinsel anywhere but on a tree. Frightfully common.

I also have tinsel draped here and there, on picture frames and shelves. It looks lovely...common indeed.
