I could do with some ideas on how to wrap gifts - children will have the standard wrapping paper to tear off but Id love to do something creative for my adult relatives and friends- ideas anyone ?!

I saw some gifts in a magazine, simply wrapped in brown paper and tied with red and white butchers string and finished with a fancy gift tag. They looked really tasteful. Plain metallic paper with matching ribbons and bows looks classy too.

Try Pinterest for lots of ideas!

Depends on the size of the gifts! If small, I would wrap in fabric rather than paper. A hankie, a napkin, maybe even a red facecloth tied with white ribbon. I once used some scrap red velvet I hated that skirt to make little bags for small gifts (a bag is sooo easy to sew, fold the fabric in half and seam along two edges, done!) with pipecleaners twisted around the neck to close the bags, twisted into a bow shape. Or satin ribbon in a contrasting colour, e.g. white hankie closed with red and green thin satin ribbons.

Jingle bells. You can buy all different sizes from eBay. Last year I bought 500 mini ones in lots of different colours for about £4.

I finished wrapping last night all the family birthday presrnts (7 alone in the month of December!). I bought a few packs of mini candy canes & stuck 2 together to form a heart shape on the front of each gift.

Mine are really simple but look beautiful. Brown paper with pretty Christmas ribbon, and homemade tags made from plain brown labels and a Christmas stamper using red and gold ink.
