I have been quite good this year: DH has a pair of trousers and a new golf bag, DD: a handbag, some earrings, a bra and knicker set, lovely jim jams, a new flute, DM a new dressing gown and a sparkly thermal vest, DSD: a warm gilet and hat (they must have some bubbles too), MIL: am awaiting ideas from DH who is visiting this weekend. DS wants: some good speakers and some clothes - I have got him nothing yet. Have also picked up all the gift cards for all the god children and their siblings - 10 of them. I don't have to buy for anybody else.

I got my dad a binary clock. He is nerdy and I hope he will get as much as kick out of it as I did getting it for him.

Sorry - completely misread the thread title. Actually it's a low key year this year and I'm not that excited about giving anything because nobody has anything or has asked for anything out of the ordinary. Last year DS got a car - it was also his 18th and he had no idea - that was very exciting.

I'm excited about my friends present. She's coming to us for Christmas, is single with, no DC's,has just come out of an abusive relationship, moved back to the UK and has a useless family so had no presents last year.
I've got her some cashmere socks and a pretty mug from Brora, some Fortnum & Mason Rose & Violet creams and Turkish delight which she loves. Going to get her some nice bath stuff too. It's 30 years since her Mum died just before Christmas so have arranged some flowers for her on the anniversary as her Father and sisters won't call her on the day.

A cape I've sewn for my mum. I started making clothes a couple of years ago but have only recently become confident enough in my abilities to give bits and pieces to family. My mum has been dropping the biggest hints that she wants me to make her something because I made my sister a dress for her birthday. What she doesn't know is she was admiring a cheap and nasty cape in Next last month but I've made a far nicer, fancier one for the same price and it's sitting in the wardrobe upstairs.

All the stuff for my dc...I think they will be genuinely thrilled with it all :)
Dh - I have put together a hamper of flavoured coffees and teas which he lives and some liqueurs and port (hic)
I have also got him the DVD of a programme he keeps viewing on youtube.
Oh, and an Xmas jumper :)

A really nice new briefcase/laptop bag for DH as his old one was falling to bits. DS and dearest D-not-yet-IL recently bought a new house so I have ordered her a framed reproduction of an old Ordnance Survey map centred on the house and showing the area on bygone days. It is currently lurking at the post office as Parcel Express left their card without ringing the bell.

Some lovely ideas here! Yes, a book nook sounds dreamy!!

We've cut back this year costs wise, and tbh I've not put as much thought into gifts, as in previous years, they're not appreciated anyway & nobody else seems to put any thought into it, so I end up looking weird for getting something unusual and thoughtful....

So, I can't wait for DS who is 5 to open his gifts! He asked for a red bike & a surprise Grin have got him some minecraft bits too & other bits & Bob's I know he'll love. Granny asked what she could buy, so I said a leap pad game, she's bought him two AND a big boy watch, which he will love too!!

Argh!! Is it the 25th yet!?

FarOverTheRainbow · 08/12/2013 09:09

I've got my DD a cute wooden kitchen that she loved playing with in mothercare so I'm excited for her to see that Grin

HaBumbug · 08/12/2013 09:32

I don't know about a book nook, but I'm all for locking my children in a cupboard.

HoHolepew · 08/12/2013 09:39

DD1 is desperate to see Miranda in concert. I got tickets months ago.
With DD2 its Katy Perry tickets.
