so iv been busy doing christmas decs,, kids have a little tree and iv put tinsle/lights up in their room.
living room has a nice tree and nice window display of lights my mum gave me.
i dont know how to explain it, but our flat is run down, it needs alot of work doing to it, but untill its on the verg of falling down the council wont do anything to it. . im making small improvment to it, but with skanky carpet that was in when we moved in, cracked walls and mould in some places. (that does not budge what ever you do to it)

it just seems with all the pretty dec and lights it just emphersizes how run down it looks and i just end up feeling blugh about it all.

i know i am lucky to have a roof over my head, and it could be a lot lot lot worse, does any one else get like this or am i just being stupied and irational?

No I don't think it's irrational. Christmas can really show up what you don't have IYSWIM.

I'm sure the DCs won't notice though and it will still be magical for them!

Have you tried HG Mould spray btw (can get from amazon) it's the only thing that's ever worked for us. Don't use it when DCs are in the room though.

I know the feeling, we're in a private rent & have been served notice to move by mid Jan because there's just so much needs doing that our LL can't afford to do.

Even with all the decs up, you can still see how run-down the house is Sad

But the decs look good so am ignoring the shit-hole-ness while we finish saving to move and look at much better properties Xmas Smile

fuzzpig..iv tried special paint.some sort of spray, but will have a look for that spray and hope lol.

lucysmum, im sorry to hear your having to move, but on the plus side once the stress of finding a place is gone your hopfully have a nice house.

the only way im going to get out of mine is if i go privet, but the only thing keeping me here is the securty of council and cheaper rent. but im not sure if thats enough tbh.

im going to try harder at ignoring the "hit-hole-ness" as you so perfectly put it. Smile

I'm not sure if it would help at all but I went into our local council office to complain about dodgy electrics & next thing you know a lady came out to do a full inspection.

Wonder if you could ask them, face to face rather than over the phone so they can't squirm out of it, to send someone out to check the mold isn't dangerous...our bathroom is growing mushrooms it's that bad!! I really would pester for someone to come out if there are damp/mould issues, it could be down to inadequate ventilation/insulation or anything.

wonderingsoul · 03/12/2013 14:17

going to see them is a good idea, they have been out before and looked though, it doesnt meet their tick list...
i hate confertation so it takes alot for me to keep pestering them, which i haver done but could prob pester them alot more.

mushrooms in ypur bathroom Shock thats horrid, ours isnt that bad thankfully.
