My 4 yr old has announced he would like a robot that can bring him food and a drink. It is the only thing he's asked for. It's not going to happen, is it?

How about the vtech one he can take shopping with him that scans the shopping?

Hmm, that does look good, thank you RainDear. I think he means something that can move around - in fact, I think he means something more hi-tec than you can get in your average toy shop, but we will try. I'll add that one onto the (very small) list.

...I remember my son having a remote controlled robot who was carrying a tray and it used to zoom around the kitchen - but I can't for the life of me remember it's name..

He loved it - but it needed me to place the stuff on tray before it banged its way around - spilling everything - I think then it would have been classified as "vintage" - but I picked it up at a Car boot Sale for a couple of quid - let me sleep on it and see if I can remember what it was called.

If not - I will call my neighbour as I remember that she bought it from the School Summer Fayre when he had grown out of it and I wanted out...

OMG..... I should never have let it go...

It was called the Omnibot -

Robot without the tray

Robot

I think that it would be difficult to get it now in working order - so you maybe better to distract him and consider:-

robotic hand

Build a robot

Robot building kit

Good Luck..

Oh no lookover I wonder if it's your neighbour selling it!!!

lookoveryourshouldernow · 01/12/2013 00:59

..probably - but such is life...

I always remember my Mum when she cleared her own Mother's house out - there were a couple of beautiful Sevres tall jars on a shelf - and she let the whole lot go to a House Clearance firm... she didn't know any better at time and such the House Clearance people were not going to tell her....

She never forgave herself and when the time came to clear her own house out I was the same - but there does come a time when you have to draw the line...

I have tried to do the best that I can - whether I have ditched stuff to landfill who knows - I know that I have already sent some stuff to landfill that would have made a penny or two on Ebay - but I try not to beat myself up...

Anyway the Robot gave my son and me a laugh of two - so it was worth it

If I had kept everything that I thought would be valuable later in life I would never be able to move in this house.. but I does piss me off when I see the exact same vases in some expensive house or on the Antiques Roadshow..

Anyway - to the original OP good luck with your search and if you find an Omnibot - enjoy it, play with up and then store in the loft !!!

Wow, that omnibot is perfect! Apart from the price :(
Looks like such good fun though.

Thanks for the Big Trak info - didn't know it had a can holder etc so that may be the way to do it.

Oh but for an omnibot - a lifesize one that can empty the dishwasher :)
