Got my 92 year old granny as new warm nightie and chocolate biscuits. Not exciting but she will enjoy both!

We got our grandma a really nice blanket a few years ago, she used it all the time. A friend of mine makes lovely personalised cushions, search for Handmade by Nikki.

An 80 yr old granny is you at 20 but with a few years more experience.

What would you like for Christmas? Good chance she'll like it too.

SpaceKoala · 28/11/2013 22:40

If se has a garden or balcony, maybe get her a bird bath or feeder..
Got one for my grans nursing home a few years back and it was a success :)

WhatAHooHa · 28/11/2013 22:40

Mine always liked a glass of Martini, some Badedas, or some dark chocolate. Alcohol, smellies, chocolate, pretty much the same as me now then!

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 28/11/2013 22:43

Oops, typo, handmade by Nicki!

Thanks everyone, she really is old fashioned, doesn't drink (unless we ply her with asti at Christmas...) I usually get nice bath stuff, fenjal last year... was thinking about a little hamper too... She likes chocolate gingers etc.

For My 90 year old grannies (in law) I'm getting a magnetic note pad so she can put it on the fridge, vouchers for our local cafe so we can go out for coffee and cake together, some of my homemade chutney (that she lives because it's made from plums from her garden), and a brooch.

bigTillyMint · 29/11/2013 15:21

My DM is 82 and she likes chocolate gingers too! Is it an OAP thing? Grin

Someone on another thread suggested a book with lots of old photos of the area they grew up in, to prompt memories

I'm making ginger Curd, Jamie Oliver ultimate gingerbread and Jamaican ginger cake. Can you spot a theme?

Santawenttoaldi · 29/11/2013 15:51

Very active 87 year old is getting bath bubbles and a steam cleaner

ancientbuchanan · 29/11/2013 15:58

My 87 year old ma likes go feel feminine. So a pretty nightie, some glamorous French silk knickers, roger and gallet scent, hand cream and soap, a soft scarf , yummy chocs, .

She also likes things that keep her warm. So I have crocheted beanie hat for her in the colour of her eyes in a soft wool.

She likes to be amused. So a light novel. With nice people, no bad language or raunchy sex scenes, and a happy ending. The hamish mcbean detective stories and the no 1 ladies detective stories do fine.

My granny is 72, she is getting Mrs Browns Boys DVD (she mentioned wanting the Christmas one) and a Yankee candle.
