What starter do you have Xmas day? I always do soup a bit of a tradition but it too filling and I want something lighter. If it can be made the day before it would be great No veggies and 8 people no little one TIA

I don't do starters because we have a full English in the morning and then the big dinner later in the day. If I were to do a starter, I would do something really light like smoked salmon (either on a plate with watercress mayo, or on blinis with champagne before we sat down).
I also think some good old fashioned retro starters like prawn cocktail or melon and parma ham would work well. You can always update them by changing the dressings.

We normally have prawn cocktail but might do baked camembert with breadsticks and chopped veg sticks this year

Prawn cocktail! In recent years I've jazzed it up with a bit of smoked salmon.

Sophis' or what?! Smile

Also pâté with a nice chutney & toast. Super easy.

We normally do prawn cocktail. Although this year I'm planning an alternative Xmas dinner with Roast leg of lamb. Fancy chinese chicken & sweetcorn soup as a starter.
