I haven't bought it yet :( Anyone seen cheap Elf toys/stuffed toys anywhere I can get in the next few days?

Card warehouse had some ones in for 99p, they were quite cute.

2anddone · 26/11/2013 12:12

Tesco, Ikea and build a bear all had them in.

Can I just clarify... that the Elf that MNers use is not then the Elf from the story Elf on the Shelf? Because when i googled it it was a whole story and brand.... so we basically just buy any Elf.

YoMamma · 26/11/2013 14:04

I have the same Q AnneW. I read about the elf on here last year and, as dd was still too young to understand Xmas, I thought I'd bank it for this year. Then I tried googling it and it was all elf on the shelf which I thought was a tad commercial and creepy and I thought maybe I'd misunderstood.... Can anyone enlighten me?

Mittensonkittens · 26/11/2013 14:10

Elf on the shelf the official version is scary.
We have one like this therubyrange.co.uk/shop/christmas-elf-dooley/
Very cute indeed. Our elf doesn't spy either, he brings the advent calendars and plays tricks throughout December.

Forgot to convert link again!

The official Elf is creepy looking and 30 odd pounds, so I'm going with the theory that we don't all look alike, why should the elves?

We go the Elf on the Shelf DVD from Argos at 2.99.

Duvethog, What/where is Card Warehouse? I googled them but couldn't find a website?

2andone, I've just been to a Tesco Superstore and they didn't have any :(

Our elf isn't the official one either. He is allowed to be hugged and gets up to tricks at night so dc has to find him. He brings the advent calendars and other treats through december

2anddone · 26/11/2013 14:17

Oh Sad they must have sold out. Card Warehouse is a cheap card shop, think they also go by the name card factory

OddFodd · 26/11/2013 14:18

I've bought DS an Elf like tree decoration from Asda for £2. It's a girl wearing a red felt/knitted outfit. I've chopped her plaits off and added some green glitter glue decorations so she's dressed in red and green. She's drying at the moment :)

Guitargirl · 26/11/2013 14:22

There are lots being sold on EBay at the moment - handmade ones. Just enter 'elf on shelf' into search. We do Elf on the Shelf and have the official version, bought it 2 years ago and it certainly didn't cost £30 then! So, this will be our third year, the DCs absolutely love it. Our Elf doesn't spy either. DD has started asking questions this year about whether FC is real. So, am going all out with the Elf this year in case it will be the last year she believes Shock.

2anddone · 26/11/2013 14:27

Type elf plush into amazon, some nice ones there and if dc are not expecting it it wont matter if the elf arrives after the 1st!

MooseyMoo · 26/11/2013 14:31

I found a lovely Elf but they were sold out this year. I have ordered one for next year from My Little Elf (it comes in a pack with a passport and some other bits.

DuvetHog · 26/11/2013 17:33

Apologies, it's actually Card Factory, not Warehouse Blush.

It's this little elf I picked up eBay elf link for 99p and this wee stocking for his bed. This person, honestly not me! is making a killing on this as both items are 99p each Hmm

I'm going to download some elf on a shelf esq literature but won't be doing the whole hog. Just watched An Elf's story DVD & it's v good. Can't wait for our elf to arrive to bring our advent calendars and a new Christmas tree decoration keeping it simple

we dont have an elf - we have a snowman and a reindeer. My friend is planning on doing it with some random toys and saying they are from santa's toy box. The magic is in the mischief they get up to more than the fact they are elves :)
