9 year old wants a stunt scooter for Xmas. Recently been going to the skate park at a local youth club. I have no idea about these things. Anyone got any recommendations/warnings to avoid?

TIA

I've just bought one for my 9 year old and like you was clueless. I learnt that metal wheels were better than plastic and a the handle bars are stronger if they are fixed by compression as opposed to being screwed in. Also one brake is better than the other, I think it was the flex brake as it doesn't wear out so quickly. To get all this specs you can spend £120-£150 min. I got the Slamm Fury in Toxic Green at a pretty reduced price from Kate's Skates, it was around £80. When I first visited their site I signed up for something and they sent me a 10% voucher code and I also got money back by going through the Top Cashback website.

These are very different from the micro-scooters little kids chase around on. My DS's last one cost him nearly £400!! He saved up all his birthday money and sold a couple of things, including his previous scooter, but they can start costing a lot when things need customising break.

If he's prone to being fussy, I would get him to show you some that he likes, as my DS is very particular and some were so much more desirable than others (for absolutely no discernible reason!)

I think JD Bugs seem to be a popular starting point, but I think we got MGPs (Madd Gear Pro?) first

Thank you.

I've just seen this at Halfords for half price - what does everyone think?

vert are really good company to deal with, the grit ones are really popular for stunts, and you can customise them.
