...what exactly is needed?

The Xbox itself
Knet thing is separate yeah?
Games obvs
How many controllers?

Other hidden extras? Please help me out a bit before I go and make a fool of myself in Game (though I have to say our Game store seems used to useless mummies, they're very tolerant even when I ask a zillion questions and go off to look for it cheaper on the internet!)

Anyone seen any good deals?

how many peopekl is it for.. i woudl suggest two controllers.. one should come with the xbox.

live account if you want to play online or use it for netflick/sky go etc

a docking station.. or chargin cable.. you will go through battries like crazy if you have a wireless remote.

Check out Amazon prices.

wonderingsoul · 23/11/2013 12:09

also game are cheaper online..

i dont know if they still do it but for a one of payment of £30 you can get a life time insurance.. which includes accidental breakage. theft.. just not water damage. if something breaks you just send it away and they fix it.. no hidden costs.
that may obnly be in store though but is worth it imo.

Charge and play kit or rechargeable batteries.

Ds is in a huff because he couldn't play minecraft with dd earlier as we have no batteries for the second controller

Thanks all, really helpful.
I have 3 kids but there are often extras here.

We had a box containing XBox 360, Kinect, one wireless controller, and 2 Kinect games.

I added
Extra memory cartridge (bought secondhand for about £40) so they can store and download games etc.
A additional wireless controller (about £20 pre-owned from Game)
XBox Live Gold - to go online and play with friends online
Rechargeable batteries (and a few packs of AAs frrom the £ shop for emergencies)
Headset for playing quietly or with friends online.

Kinect is good for party games, dancing etc. Other games tend to get played singly as the Dc don't like the split screen, so wouldn't bother with more than 2 controllers.

emark · 23/11/2013 13:16

why did you need extra memory cartridge?
was it a 4 or 250gb console

ChippyMinton · 23/11/2013 19:08

must've been the 4 in that case.

If you're planning on playing it as well as the kids, then get a separate controller that's a different colour. Every time I pick up a controller one of the kids have used it's sticky, despite rules of no food or drink in the living room Grin

DH bought me a red controller for valentines day and no child is allowed to touch it - it's fab!!
