I would go for the nexus 7 on offer at carphone warehouse for £119.

wonderingsoul · 18/11/2013 12:16

i would say the nexus 7, from carphone where house to. very fast. and then a case from amazon, you can buy pretty sturdy and cheap cases from there at a fraction of what shops sell.

I have just bought the Tesco Hudl my son was raving about how great it looks so I got him one, it's £119. Feels good, has a decent weight to it and comes in a few different colours.

My 9yo DS has the Google Nexus 7 and loves it. It got excellent reviews when it came out.

Paleodad · 18/11/2013 14:06

we just bought the same one as HeeHiles too.
From the spec and reviews it does look good. I've bought cheap tablets before and the have al been fine, if not better than more expensive 'branded' tablets.

My DD has the Nexus 7 - she is just turned 10 and has had it for one year.
We have had a few problems with the charger - its a rubbish design of charger IMO.

She would have preferred an iPad mini - but out of our price range, and the nexus has really good reviews.

Get the Tesco Hudl! I bought one with my vouchers (so free!) and lent it to ds1 who is doing 3rd year of his computer course at uni and needed an Andriod. Even he was impressed.
They are about £119 usually.

I bought 2 nexus 7 2012, one for dd 1 and 1 for ds who is 6, the grand parents are pinching in as well ! And I think I'll borrow it for let's say to do the food shopping from the sofa ! Thank you for recommendations !
