Looking for present suggestions for my son who will be 3.5 this christmas. He already has a scooter, a bike, wooden railway, garage and duplo. He's the first grandchild on both sides so I'm being asked for present suggestions but also need ideas for his Father Christmas presents too. Any suggestions?

Great to come back from a busy day out to so many more suggestions. About to read through all the replies properly but loving walkie talkies and all of fixitups suggestions.

I agree that there's no need to go mad but as this is the first christmas he's actually looking forward to and he'll be the only child there (apart from his baby sibling) I suspect he'll be getting loads! Agree with luggage that he suddenly seems to be properly playing with toys now. He already has a kitchen and lots of food/shopping toys but would definitely recommend those for anyone who doesn't have them.

Have got pants, socks and a new toothbrush for his stocking. Going to look at schleich animals too but what other toys are you putting in stockings?

We're trying to keep presents to a minimum this year as last year he actually refused to open any more presents by the end of the day as he was so sick of it! First grandchild/big family.

From Father Christmas - Duplo Fire Station (this is the only thing he has asked for) and a stocking with a few bits including a shopping list game and some DVDs.

From us - Iron Man figure

Grandparents - Knight dressing up costume

Great Nan - a Wow toy car

Am going to ask my brother to get him some wellies.

LazyLondoner · 20/11/2013 13:01

Thanks for the stocking filler suggestions. Have added finger lights and a whoopee cushion to my list- both of which I think he'll love

A Trunki?

Stocking fillers - the Tinti bath bomb things that change the colour of the water and have a surprise toy inside; felt pens; notelet type things (Wild and Wolf do lovely quality ones in Mr Men/Gruffalo/Gruffalo's Child type themes); cup adn plate set; grown up china cup for hot chocolates, sachet of hot chocolate and indiviually wrapped biscuit (very grown up!); battery operated pencil sharpener; flannel; Mr Matey bubbles (take up lots of room in DS' enormous stocking); toothbrush and 3-5 toothpaste; pack of pants; pack of socks; DVD.

HappyAsEyeAm · 20/11/2013 15:05

Play-doh tubs set of 4 (DS' stocking is enormous and it takes a lot of thought to make it look plump and full. I didn't think that through when I bought it ...)
