Best pay as you go tarrif for almost 10 year old DS please

Planning to buy him a basic phone, for keeping in touch when he's out with friends which I guess will start happening next year (eek!). He has iPod touch for camera, Internet, games etc so phone will just be texts and calls. Any help appeciated!

I used to say my kids wouldn't get phones until much older but the times they are a changing.

My daughter is 12 and her phone has been so useful. She gets the bus to school and if there are delays she can ring me and lets her friend's ring home too. We got a £10 per month contract with 3 and capped it so she can't go over. This gets her lots of texts, at least an hour's worth of calls and unlimited internet. But the contract is for 2 years so may not suit everyone.
