I have no idea what to get mine. He's 33. Loves movies, plays 5 a-side football, likes keeping fit and eating healthily, loves spending time with me and DS. Help!!

We only buy token gifts so I have got him a giant toblerone and the new John Grisham book.

Strawberryfieldsforever1 · 16/11/2013 19:16

Not been shopping yet but planning on getting DH;

Berghaus waterproof trousers
Leather document wallet for work
Maglite torch
Mint Baileys
Pen knife if i can find a decent one
Fragrance

ginmakesitallok · 16/11/2013 19:41

Norbert, where did you get the cycling top? I've already got dp some new running shoes, but a vintage cycle top would be perfect for him

Flossiechops · 16/11/2013 19:42

I had a rather large and unexpected tax rebate so I'm buying him me an IMac. We don't usually buy expensive gifts but I have the money for once. He will be thrilled!

onetiredmummy · 16/11/2013 19:51

I have got dp :

A new cycle racing waterproof jacket (to replace the old one that I've nicknamed The Plague Shroud as its so filthy ) £69.99

Cycling winter gloves £35.99

Cycling socks £12.99 per pair

A photo book of cyclocross which is his discipline with nice glossy pictures.

letsgotostonehenge · 16/11/2013 19:54

a sense of humour Wink

Gingersnap88 · 16/11/2013 20:01

I'm getting mine a gadget which turns tapes into mp3s. DH is music mad.

He'd also like a ps4 or xbox1 but we are moving house so no Wink

I've got him a minecraft hoodie, will get him some DC super friends from DD, a mug and some other small bits like socks / chocolates.

His bday is in Jan, I'll be taking him for dinner at The Shard.

I love buying presents...

Ps: I find Firebox and Iwantoneofthose to be great websites for man-buying!

NorbertDentressangle · 16/11/2013 20:02

ginmakesitallok -the vintage cycling top was from ebay. There seem to be a few sellers that specialise in them.

There were some great hideous, garish 80s/90s ones that I was tempted to go for just to see his expression Grin but I settled for something more tasteful and relevant!

Misty9 · 16/11/2013 20:25

I'm getting mine a beer brewing kit from firebox. He's going to love it! :) will look into that beer52 thing now...

Gingersnap88 · 17/11/2013 08:50

I thought Makey-Makey on Firebox looked too. It's a kit with wires etc and you use it to turn anything into an electrical current. Terrible description but you can use fruit and veg to type, or make music with. The videos are good Grin

JetJungle · 17/11/2013 10:49

My lucky dp will be getting:

Superdry shirt

Battlefield 4 for the PS4

A proper Roman coin

Star wars origami (thanks for the brilliant idea kateecass)

Those whiskey rock ice thingys

Mum2Fergus · 17/11/2013 11:40

Nothing, money is tight so only DS will get anything from us this year.

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/11/2013 14:38

Dr Dre executive headphones - am hoping he'll use these a lot at work/when working from home.

Molton Brown black pepper bodywash - buy this every year.

Dressing gown and slippers which he needs anyway.

TheOneWithTheHair · 17/11/2013 14:57

I love the black pepper body wash but I ran out last night. :(

plastico · 18/11/2013 08:49

gingersnap where did you find the minecraft hoodie, not for DH but for DS...

For DH
Jack Daniels and, ummm...???

MILLYMOLLYMANDYMAX · 18/11/2013 08:58

Mine gets a Toblerone and a silk designer tie I have picked up from EBay for 99p

FakeAngel · 18/11/2013 10:32

16 year old single malt which I shall enjoy too

Selection of real ales

Books (Morrissey autobiography, history books, George Orwell biography, North Korea stuff)

Framed original 1890s drawing of the (long demolished) street his ancestors lived on (he's fascinated by his family history)

French Revolution-era coin

Hotel Chocolat chocs

...and I'll probably pick him up a few more little things.

fuzzpig · 18/11/2013 11:00

That makey makey thing looks amazing! Might do that for DH's birthday in January.

MyPegsAreFab · 18/11/2013 14:14

Gingersnap thanks for posting details of those websites - they are great!

Purplehonesty · 18/11/2013 14:25

A sex toy and a ham. Not for use together tho.

We have two young kids and six life is a bit sporadic so I am making up for it with a nice surprise! Plus he loves roast ham more than life itself so have ordered a huge one from the butchers just for him!

Blatherskite · 18/11/2013 16:10

Gingersnap88 Every year I struggle for DH, most years I end up getting him very little as there's nothing he wants. I've just ordered him the Makey-Makey and I think he's going to love it! Thank you

ALittleMisssRed · 18/11/2013 16:13

I wonder which gift he will be more excited about Purple!

Stevie77 · 18/11/2013 16:24

  • Cool retro trainers we saw while on holiday, only prob is return policy. Have yet to figure out a way around that.
  • Cufflinks off Etsy or Notonthehighstreet. Wanted engraved initial ones but can't find any I like yet
  • Jumper from Gap or Banana Republic as he whinges about having none (fretting over this as I never buy him clothes)
  • a recent Stephen King book, possibly 11/22/63
  • A photojournalism book he spied on holiday

I'm such an ace wife!

He'll say he didn't know what to get me so got nothing and will get me whatever I like, just name it, which ruins the fun. He's good otherwise, just rubbish at buying presents Grin

iheartdusty · 18/11/2013 17:39

ohgawdIdunno.

and there's an early birthday to do as well.

So far:

a mug
2 books off his amazon list
tickets for a gig, but he goes to gigs most weeks and will have already seen everything on offer, and I fear he will not be very excited at all about this one which may be a bit of a novelty act tbh.

He is great at present buying, which makes it worse (or perhaps I am easy to please? Wink)

he loves music but doesn't play any instruments and just downloads everything he wants.
doesn't want gadgets for the sake of it, and had a new phone quite recently.
gets loads of books from the library.
is not interested in food, clothes or accessories.
likes photography but doesn't want any kit or courses.
spends most of his time trying to declutter and remove things from our house that he thinks we probably don't need any more, while I go round behind him putting them back.

Purplehonesty · 18/11/2013 19:38

Hmm probably the ham! Grin
