Help me plan a nice gentle London Xmas shopping day...

If such a thing in fact exists :o

I've never been majorly into shopping, but this year I have the opportunity to wander round London after hospital appts so I thought I'd make a very slow gentle day of it.

Just looking for quirky shops really - I know I can get stuff online but it'd be nice to browse for once.

Thinking of ideas for unusual presents:

  • M&M store as they'd make good stocking fillers
  • Lego store... TBH I'd better ignore that one as it might bankrupt me...
  • Tokyo Toys and any other manga type stores as my DSD is getting into it (esp. Naruto)
  • any geeky shops (forbidden planet?)
  • national gallery shop for a browse as I forgot to go in when we last went, and there's a specific thing I want.
  • Any other Xmas stores (went to the one in hays galleria today Blush

... finished with a trip to the Haagen Dazs place, just for me :o

Any ideas/recommendations? Preferably places that are really easy to get to, near tube stations if possible as I get need frequent rests.

The Xmas market is open, I went yesterday! There is a Spanish churros stall opp Foyles bookshop called Churros Garcia. They do the most amazing churros (Spanish donoughts in the shape of long fingers) with a pot of dipping chocolate. Lovely, I want to go back to get some more! My dd drank my hot choc & left the churros!
Confused

You can get some great stuff at the London transport museum shop in Covent garden

I've just wandered around Covent Garden today - some really lovely and diverse shops around there and nice Xmas decs and cafés etc.

M&M shop is pointless and full of over priced tacky rubbish. I think it us the most pointless shop in the world - but clearly lots of people love it. Confused

If you want to see oxford street lights etc jump on one of the new buses that go down there and chill upstairs and enjoy the view. I would avoid shopping there though - sucks up lots of energy.

The Harvey Nichols windows are lovely this year - star themed. But that is Knightsbridge.

The Crypt Cafe at St Martins is a lovely sanctuary. I was there today too!
