Hi, we have bought dd the hotel for xmas this year. I wondered how long these things take to set up and whether it would be worth making it ready on xmas eve? Any advice>

Thanks

Tortillas, I have a child of exactly the same age.

She has been playing with the older children's Playmobil for the last year or so, the Ark which came with loads of animals was a favourite.

She has never been a child to put things in her mouth, so I wasn't worried about small bits.

She likes making all the figures talk to each other, and go places, so she's getting the Playmobil camper van for Christmas, as we don't have any vehicles yet. She loves her brother's Lego Friends camper van set.

The older ones are getting the hotel, between them, so I guess she'll get a look in there too.

My eldest is nearly 10, and he still loves the stuff.

Thanks isildur. He's never been one to put things in his mouth either. I think I will have a look and get him something from the older range then. If it lasts him for years it will be worth it, and it's not cheap so may aswell build up a collection starting early!

He's obsessed with camper vans so I think I'll take a look at that. I had toyed with the idea of getting him the Wow camper van but he may get more out of the playmobil one. I'm worrying about all this a lot when the truth is, he will probably be excited about anything he gets anyway.

Lili I can't see your link, but the aeroplanes we have, although large, don't actually require much in the way of assembly. The main part of the aeroplane just needs the wings/tail/engines and wheels attaching.

Thank you, that sounds hopeful. Even though my son is young he is quite patient as long as he can see someone is fixing it for him. Plus he will have lots of new things to distract him.

The model number is 5954, I think it is one of the smaller ones. Considering the box size I dread to see how big the large ones are. I am sure I will find out next year when he wants one for next Christmas.

We got ds the knights castle and the baddies castle (can't remember the name now) for Xmas when he was 5. Took over 5 bloody hours to setup on Xmas eve, got to bed after 2am and ds was up just after 5am. I was cooking for 12 that year and was knackered.

To add insult to injury he never really took to playmobil and after a week or so never really played with it again!
