I have got to find somewhere for 10 of us to go for a christmas evening do, it needs to be central london, we need food and then drinking preferably all in the same place! would like somewhere reasonably cheap and quite cool/different if possible

Can anyone help me?

Bowling in brick lane?

nancy75 · 07/11/2013 22:06

I think Brick lane might be too far/tricky to get to. Most live in SE london so i think central London might be best.
They are all sports coaches so anything like bowling might get a little too competitive!

Hopeful/desperate bump Grin

It's not central but best parties ever do some brilliant doos. Not cheap though

imip · 07/11/2013 22:23

Liverpool st is about 10 mins walk away from the bowling alley in brick lane. Just off spittle fields market!

imip · 07/11/2013 22:24

Doh, read central london as central line ... I need to sleep!

Vinopolis? Either for dinner and drinks or their mixed party night? link

nancy75 · 07/11/2013 22:40

Best parties ever looks great but too pricey I fear.
Vinopolis would get vetoed they are more lager than wine!
argh so difficult trying to find somewhere to please everyone. It doesn't help that I will be the only woman, it has to be somewhere that will appeal to a load of blokes!

I know you said that bowling might be too competitive, but there's a bar in Holborn that has Ping Pong tables called Bounce?

Or Whisky tasting at the Whisky Exchange at Vinopolis? Apparently women are better at whisky tasting than men so you could be the competitive one... There are loads of good places to eat in that area

Cocktail Masterclass at Mixology? I did one of these a year or so ago and it was more men than women. It wasn't at any of the venues on their website though

nancy75 · 07/11/2013 22:50

Lula, I am starting to think bowling could be an option, there are a couple of places in more central locations. Lol at ping pong, they are tennis coaches, 2 of them have played grand slams ( Wimbledon ect) and all have been pro at some point, they would really think I had lost the plot if I suggest ping pong Grin

If you did Mixology at one of the Shoreditch venues you could go for Vietnamese food on Kingsland Road or curry in Brick Lane or any one of the restaurants around Spitalfields. i live in SE London and getting home from that area is easy - loads of buses or the Overground from Shoreditch High St

nancy75 · 07/11/2013 22:52

I thought about mixology earlier, it is def on the suggestions list

Circus in Covent Garden?

LulaPalooza · 07/11/2013 23:04

Heh! tennis coaches playing competitive ping pong could be funny... maybe... Grin

They give out medals!

nancy75 · 07/11/2013 23:08

Lula, could be funny or could end badly! It would be interesting to see how they got on against the other people there:) imagine turning up for a fun night of ping pong and ending up playing against a guy that has played tennis at Wimbledon ( it would be even funnier if they turned out to be useless!)

Smaller bats (racquets), smaller balls... they might be rubbish!

Ok, I take your point... it could be awful! I haven't been there, DH has, and he's an uber-competitive Saffa. he had a great time.

It's difficult, isn't it? finding stuff to do in the evening in C London that is't just food or booze based should be easy, but it isn't.

How about this?

Having looked at the ping pong website it does look pretty good, food looks cheap enough, and I might even win a game:D I am going to suggest it just to see the reaction I get!
Another world thanks for that link, I can't get site to open on my phone, I will have a proper look tomorrow :)
