Chuggington Rocky Ridge - is it hopeless?

My 5 year old son has suddenly started liking Chuggington since they showed some new "Chug Patrol" episodes. He plays it at school with his friends in the playground. I think the toys look to be quite young for him, with not many features. But I hope I'm wrong because he saw the Rescue at Rocky Ridge set and he thinks it looks brilliant. Is it actually okay? Thank you!

My son has a mad train obsession - he has mountains of wooden track (definitely the best) and also has the interactive chuggington track. It's quite good fun but it is flimsy, especially compared to the wooden stuff. I am however looking at the chuggington Rocky Mountain track as I think he'd love it for Xmas. The YouTube demo of it is quite good. My son is 4 by the way. In my opinion it's so much nicer than Thomas stuff. I can't bear the Thomas cartoons so I've steered him towards chuggington. Thomas stuff is also WAY too expensive.

It looks very similar in style to the Chuggington Ice Cave playset which I got my 5 year old son for his birthday a few months back. He plays with it every day so it's out constantly. I find the track chunkier than the Thomas track and it clicks together better.

I agree it might not have many features but that's just less to break and less tears in my experience!

It's down to £25 with free delivery at Smyths...

Thank you, Myboy, Closer and Kato! I think it is because we have so much Brio that I've been reluctant to get it, but I've just put an order in for it at Smyths along with the Jackman character train. I think I'll also get the Ice Cave set like Closer as its half price at a few places and comes with Koko. Thank you again.

Thanks to you too roslet I've been struggling with what to get DS for his Xmas too. I also may get the portable roundhouse which is down to £20 on amazon!

He also has a huge amount of brio/Thomas but is now preferring chuggington thank goodness! I couldn't take one more monotone 'cinders and ashes!'

And thank you to other posters for your opinions/reviews! Don't want tears of frustration!
