Feeling Christmassy!

Today I spent a few hours tidying so that the house will be in order for when we put decorations up. Lots of decluttering as we have lots of birthdays in nov/ dec as well and end up with too much 'stuff'.

Then we went out to buy each of the dcs a Christmas jumper and tonight dh has made a Christmas cake with oldest 2 dcs.

I'm feeling quite Christmassy already and usually I never do and then get upset by new year that I missed out!

I've been buying loads of stocking bits from ebay the last month. I'm usually a bit last minute but am determined to make an effort to be able to relax on christmas eve this year rather than my usual wrapping presents! I was thinking actually of making marzipan sweets and peppermint creams as my gran used to. hmm, might have to investigate this idea...

mumtoone1 · 27/10/2013 16:52

I've been watching cheesy christmas films on Sky this weekend...

I've got the majority of the christmas presents now. Only people outstanding is the IL's and I thought I might wait post black friday incase I see anything in the sales for them.

Going to make my christmas chutneys next weekend too.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 27/10/2013 19:18

Oh mumtoone1 don't give permission to watch cheesy films! I have set myself a limit of absolutely nothing before 1st Dec! and it's hard to resist. Grin

I have programmed all the Christmas radio stations into my iPad app though....Grin

I tidied out the bottom of my wardrobe to pile the bags in (DH was complaining about the amount of stuff on the bedroom floor)

Christmas cakes (made four 6" x 6" ones ) baked, 'fed' with Amarretto and wrapped in greaseproof and foil.

Christmas jumper for me, top for DD, shirt for DS (DH won't wear one Grin ) already bought.

My Christmas presents have been bought and ordered (see how kind I am, DH doesn't need to think ) .
DD presents apart from her Gift Voucher.
DS - still working on, got him a couple of things.
DH will do an Amazon Wish-List.

DH put in a new festive scented fragranced plug in diffuser thingy today, apple and mulled spice. It's the same one we had last year while we had all the decorations up, and it's making me feel very Christmassy! I've also dug out my Nordic Christmas print snuggled blanket, and spent the day hibernating on the sofa.

cantsleep · 27/10/2013 20:31

Wrapped up the dcs stocking bits today and put them away in labelled bags hidden in one of my wardrobes ( it has a cupboard in front so they can't go snooping!).

I've got Blackberry gin infusing for Christmas.

We've bought Christmas jumpers. I've bought most of the presents, a few left to order but I know exactly what to buy and I've wrapped a couple.

sisterofmercy · 28/10/2013 16:48

I wasn't feeling Christmassy and haven't done anything about it but Steve Lamacq just played a song called 'The Last of the Melting Snow' on 6music just now and all of a sudden I am feeling the urge to listen to Christmas music.

I officially started my Christmas shopping yesterday, I am convinced I will make myself organised this year!

Katnisscupcake · 29/10/2013 10:38

WALLY!!!!! Christmas Radio Stations???!!!

Where do I find these?????

I have nearly finished my Xmas shopping (I work from home and spend LOTS of time online...) and while I'm working I've watched loads of Xmas films.

The only one I refuse myself is 'Scrooge' the Musical one with Albert Finney as I grew up watching it and it's my favourite.

That is saved until 1st December. Smile

I have boxes down in my office with the Xmas Food that I started buying about a month ago. Not much, ingredients for the Xmas cakes, the tins of chocs and a few packets of biscuits/nibbles. I add a little bit onto our weekly shop to ease the pain. Although I have £250 saved on our ASDA card for Xmas so hopefully we can get some nice little treats! Grin (Wine, more chocolates and cheeeeeeese)!

Katniss I have an app on my iPod called Tunein radio - I'm sure there are other similar versions.

I live outside the UK so it's great for me as I miss 6 music and Radio 4.

You can pick up almost any radio station in the world if it is digital.

It has a search function - you just type in Christmas and it finds all the channels, which you can "heart" as faves.

We've got some Halloween ones at the moment too.

Although I pity the DJ's on some of them that play Christmas tunes 365 days a year. I'm queen of Crimbo, but even that is stretching it for me.

My chocs and treats from the UK are stashed behind my shoes in the wardrobe. minus the two bars of fruit and nut I have scoffed on the sly
