help with gifts for 4.5 yr old boy

Has anyone got any ideas what my mum and dad could get my little boy, I am all out! He has asked for octonauts bits already but he is certain father christmas will bring them and we wont see mum and dad untill later the day. I wondered about one of the tag reading things but the books are so expensive. Anyone got any unusual ideas or toy recomendations for this age, he loves cars and sciency things plus is now getting more into drawing. Thanks

How much roughly do you think they're thinking of spending?

There was a thread on here yesterday with tons of unusual ideas for 4 year olds. One poster in particular had loads of suggestion that were fab. Sorry, can't link but you should be able to scroll down and find it easily.

DS (5), loves Octonauts, and there are loads of toys, so an extra set later in the day wouldn't go wrong I would have thought. But other things my DS has enjoyed over the last year include lego (there are some good vehicle based young builder sets), marble run,magic set, imaginext toys (batman stuff) and playmobil.

My DS is a similar age (just turned 5) and he's really into his lego at the moment. He got a Lego ideas book for part of his birthday present which is good. He also loves superheros, knights and dragons, and pirates. Does your DS enjoy dressing up? Playmobil also do a fab pirate ship but it's quite pricey I think. What kind of budget are you thinking?

Again, thinking along the lines of what my DS would like, how about something for his room...like a fun lamp? He has my old lava lamp in his room now and he thinks it is absolutely AMAZING! Or maybe a poster? Wall stickers?

We bought a robotic dinosaur kit that you had to build yourself for a 6yo recently which looked quite fun. If your DS like science stuff maybe he'd enjoy something like that (I'm sure they'd be something similar for a younger child). Or something from the Horrible Science range?

my DS(4.1) has declared that he doesn't need to ask for anything as 'farmer christmas' will know what he likes . He likes superheros, octonauts (though already got the gup x for his birthday), tmnt, role play and also getting into drawing
scouring the previous thread too, I've come up with:
Imaginext batmobil and probably extra figures
2 teenage turtle thingy figures
an A4 size whiteboard and markers (DD getting pretend school so thought this would be a good extra for him to join in as the 'assistant' teacher)

Was just coming back to suggest a game of some sort...like Hungry Hippos, Guess Who, Operation, dominos...

imaginext by fisherprice. elc drawing projector (mothercare site). lego. cd player / book cds. playdoh sets if you can handle the mess. the little polar bear books - my ds loves Lars the bear and his adventures, quite after umizoomy etc.
