Tell me about Skylanders please

DS1 is 6 and keeps going on about Skylanders. All I really understand is that it is some type of game that involves models. We have a Wii and Xbox 360.

Is there a starter pack or something we can get him? We are really struggling to think of things to get him so this would be good.

Thanks.

We have Skylanders Giants and DS has asked for the new version (Swap Force) for Xmas. I think the initial cost is about the same but there are some good deals on the Giants figures.

The both games come as a starter pack with 3 figures and you can buy various versions for the Wii, Xbox, Playstation etc. The game is the same version for each operating system but you need to buy the right one for your equipment. They come with the same figures regardless.

There is a "portal of power" that you put a figure on - this is then the character playing the game.

The character faces challenges and can pick up or lose energy. When they lose all their energy you have to use a different character. In the Giants version there are 8 different "families" of character - each with about half a dozen characters in. Each family has different powers so can complete different sections of the game better than a character from another family. (Still with me)? Grin We have one character from each family and get on just fine.

DS loves it and the skills required are easy enough for a child of 6.

Ds2 wants for Xmas managed to get starter pack for Wii in blockbuster for £30 its £ 53 nearly everywhere else also has free delivery . Asda had 3 figures for £16 last week .

DS liked Skylanders but Disney Infinity which works in a very similar way (characters on a power plate thingy) and costs about the same is the latest 'trendy' one.

Sainsburys had a good deal on the starter kits when I was in a week or so ago - not sure if it was still on, but it was under £30.
