I have discovered the perfect Christmas Day breakfast - IKEA's cinnamon buns! They are mucho delicioso and have made my house smell unseasonably festive - they'll be lush on the morning of the big day accompanied by a glad of Bucks Fizz! Smile
What will YOU be having?

What's a vegetarian fry up? An egg

Grin

Egg, potato scones, mushrooms, beans.
DH likes the Linda Macartney sausages and DD (who isn't vegetarian) likes "Veggie Bacon"

mumofwombat that's what we do too but in Scotland!! Usually just square slice sausage, black pudding and bacon and sometimes we have to open the garage door and BBQ in doorway or under big umbrellas! Think it originally started when dad decided to do Xmas breakfast and mum wanted him out the way!!! Delish tho Smile

Smoked salmon on thin wholemeal toast triangles with lemon slices + cucumber slices washed down with champagne (this is what we have for brunch at around 11.00) - breakfast happens earlier - like the idea of cinnamon buns with coffee first thing though

We usually have toasted brioche with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. DD will have pain au chocolat.

I also like 'Blackstone Eggs' - split English muffin, each half topped with crispy grilled bacon, a thick slice of grilled beef tomato and a poached egg, glazed with cheese sauce and served with hash browns.

Tbh though it's a bit of faff on Christmas morning!

Cheese & bacon breakfast muffins this year.

150g self raising flour
1 large egg
125ml milk
1tsp mustard (powder)
Loads of cheese
Loads of bacon.

Easiest ever thing to make and sooooo delicious straight from the oven!

I can second Nigella's Christmas muffins. I always make a batch for my team for the morning of the last office day before Christmas.

Put the ingredients into a jug in the fridge the night before and have the cake cases ready - bake when I'm in the shower. Easy peasy.

For Christmas morning we start with a huge teapot of scalding tea and a plate of shortbread fingers while cracking into the stockings.

Might give the cinnamon buns a trial run in the next few weeks.....
