Ds makes a bee line for the carpark toy every time we go to playgroup. He loves putting cars and balls down tge ramp.

I have shown him the more simple car tracks but he isn't ninterested in them.

I am considering getting him one for his Christmas or birthday pressie ( he turns 1 a week before Christmas)

Do you think it is too grown up for him?

Has anyone seen any nice wooden carparks for sale?

I found with my boys that whenever I got them something that they loved at toddler groups, they had no interest in it at home... Could just be my wierd kids though!

Its not wooden but we are getting DD2 the vtech (?) Toot toot drivers garage for her first birthday in November.

Cause and effect toys are well worth the investment imo. DD had a couple of toys like this that she always goes back too.

We got dd1 a garage for Christmas when she was around 1. I don't think it's too early, and it's a toy that will grow with them. We got the Fisher Price one, it's plastic and not too beautiful, but it's sturdy and well used.

Things like that grow with children, I find. First, as you say, they can roll stuff down ramps and enjoy that, then get into handling the cars and 'driving' them around between 1-2 and over 2 they start getting into real imaginative play.

We got the elc wooden big city at park. Ds prefers plastic ones by far though so if i did it again I would just get the same one he likes at playgroup.

I think the Fisher Price garage is a great idea too, we had a wooden one and to be honest it wasn't as enjoyed as the big plastic ones at playgroup / preschool!

We bought the Toot toot garage for DS1 first b'day, it was an instant hit and now at nearly 3 it is still one of his most played with toys. We've just bought the Toot Toot airport for DS2 first b'day to get the most out of the toy. Would recommend (even though I can't stand the noise it makes!!)

My 2yr old also loves the garage at playgroup so we have just bought him a wooden one from Tesco direct. We haven't assembled it yet but it seems to have the best combination of working lift, car wash, petrol and helicopter pad. Ramps seem a bit steep though. However it did seem to be the best value wooden one for around £20.

We got DS le grand garage (google it) when he was that age - played with it till he was 4 and still has it in his bedroom (age 6). Still plays with cars, but not the garage nowadays, but I reckon it was good vfm!
