Do you mean homemade by kids, or homemade by grownups?

RedbreastRobin · 28/09/2013 20:45

Sorry - should have said! Grownups Smile

I have made Christmas cards for a couple of years. I recommend making all your cards the same using a fairly simple design. Do everything in batches and assemble at the end. By far the easiest batch was when I made all the cards in the same design using a rubber stamp and heat embossing.

Are you a regular paper crafter?

I am not in the least bit crafty. I last made a Christmas card when I was 5. But I'm enthusiastic Grin

What equipment do I need?!

My own preference is for cards using a simple design but I do like a bit of bling!

If you don't have any crafting equipment the I suggest going and having a mooch round place like Hobbycraft or the Range. You can buy packs of card blanks & envelopes and then there are kits that have stuff (technical term) that you can use to add your design.

Look at images of handmade Christmas cards to give you some inspiration.

Making your cards will give you personal satisfaction but it is not a cheap alternative Grin

In theory I made these with my kids year before last but I thought they looked really nice. Basically, a load of their splodgy paintings (the ones they do when they don't paint stuff just chuck the paint around) cut into Christmas tree shapes and then stuck on folded card with a little gold star on top.

We ran out of paintings to cut up so I started making my own! Grin with coloured paper, pva glue and glitter. Like tinsely trees. With nice card/paper and envelopes they would have looked quite grown up I think.

That's about my level of card making though!

Love that idea TeWi ! Might take a trip to Hobbycraft tomorrow...

I've not made any for years but I like the look (and they look pretty easy) of these 2 cards here and here. I think I'd make them a bit more blingy too Grin
