I really fancy treating myself to one of the beauty advent calendars out of my £2 jar. Did anyone get one last year, any recommendations?

There is no Lancôme one this year

CecyHall · 25/09/2013 17:09

Apparently Latest In Beauty have said they are doing one again this year but no details yet

hermioneweasley · 25/09/2013 17:41

I got the You magazine one last year and it was fun, but i'm not sure it was worth the money. Did try a few things I wouldn't have otherwise and liked them

PoppyWearer · 25/09/2013 20:16

No Lancôme one this year? Shock Is that the Selfridges one?

It was virtually identical two years running (yes, I got it twice Blush). Contained miniature Lancôme cleansers, perfumes, luffly moisturiser pots, mini mascara and lippies, then some odd bits of Kiehl's too GrinGrin

My wash bag has been well-stocked for the past year, anyway.

Definitely a complete rip-off though at something like £80 IIRC? I would have been better off buying a couple of bits at Kiehl's and nabbing a load of their samples.

The Sunday Girl blog today has a list of what's in the Benefit calendar if you like a spoiler/want to know what you'll get for your £50

HelgatheHairy · 26/09/2013 14:53

Just looked on the self ridges website and there is a lancome advent calendar this year. No release date though.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/09/2013 18:28

I had a look at the Blog Cecy

Debenhams have some really nice 'kits' at the moment including a Full Size + Small Size of They're Real. (for the price of the full size)

I don't wear lipstick/gloss and I'm not a jewellry wearer so I'd have to consider the Advent nearer the time.

(And I'm a brat and I don't want to wait) Blush

Champagnecharleyismyname · 30/09/2013 16:29

I fancy the Boots one or is it because its the first one out? I like the idea of having different brands .

Ohhhhh I like the look of the Boots one...
I could share it with my DD.
She can have the 'fun' things
I'll have the 'old woman' things
Anything that's not Bunny Friendly can go to the Charity Shop in a little bag

IsaacCox · 30/09/2013 18:23

I really want the Boots one and £30 for £65's worth is great... Do you think it'll be online from midnight on the 2nd? How many do they make? I need to get me one Grin

Champagnecharleyismyname · 30/09/2013 19:23

Race you to it.

Grin

Here's a link to what is in the Boots one.

ihatethecold · 01/10/2013 06:55

The boots one is very tempting! Wink

thistlelicker · 01/10/2013 06:59

Oh the boots one looks fab! I'm
Sure
I'll forget about it but I want one!!

CecyHall · 01/10/2013 08:04

Oh there is only one thing I'd be interested in on the Boots one so not for me. Thanks for that link!

IsaacCox · 01/10/2013 15:43

The boots link I posted earlier now has photos of the products. I'm not so sure if I want it now... especially as you can get those tiny perfume samples for free. Hmm dunno whether I'll bother now, or will I Confused

mumtoone1 · 01/10/2013 16:18

Thanks IssacCox. I still like the look of it so I probably will get it for a bit of fun :)

CecyHall · 01/10/2013 16:35

How can they say the boots one is £65 worth of stuff?!

IsaacCox · 01/10/2013 17:58

I know Cecy! I've decided not to get it now. And I was so looking forward to it :(

IsaacCox · 02/10/2013 08:05

The Ciate advent calendar is now on sale at Selfridges, here

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/10/2013 12:04

The Boots one works out at £1.25 per gift ( £30 for 24 items)

That's pretty good IMO. I don't know how much the perfumes are worth but the Mavala Nail products are usually £4+ and the Nails Inc full size are £9-£11 (I'm guessing this is a mini, not checked but 'Porchester Sq' is a classic shade).

Then you have the Triple Points offer if you buy the item again?

therumoursaretrue · 02/10/2013 12:16

I bought Lancôme one for my mum last year, Ciate for my sister and the latest in beauty for myself.

Latest in beauty one was my favourite but I like to have a go at new brands so it suited me.

I actually thought they were all lovely and will be buying myself one again this year but haven't decided which yet!

IsaacCox · 02/10/2013 14:10

I was looking at last years Latest in beauty one yesterday, it looked good. Any idea when it will be on sale?

therumoursaretrue · 02/10/2013 14:30

Not sure of date for this year but it was the beginning if November last year as far as I recall for the Latest in Beauty one.
