DS will be 15 months at Christmas, so dh and I have started talking about our family traditions in order to start our own. We've come up with the following...
Visit to Father Christmas (didn't do this last year, as ds was too young)
'Advent' books-as well as having an advent calendar, we are thinking of buying 24 kids books some new, some 2nd hand, and letting ds pick one out of a bag each night in December, to be his bedtime story that evening. Christmas Eve will be Twas the night before Xmas (someone on here suggested this as an idea last year)
Christmas Eve hamper, in which will be a new set of pj's, slippers and dressing gown for ds.

What are your family traditions? Please share, and if you don't mind, I may use them as well Smile

Ooo lovely idea for a thread, DS will be about that too at Christmas so I'll be watching with interest what great ideas there are to be had - already added Christmas Eve hamper to the list, maybe you could add fairy cake kit and glacé cherries in there to make 'Rudolph' cakes for Santa? I used to do this with DNiece and she loved it and concentrating on that for half hour got her scraped off the ceiling

When I was young we all had to get dressed and have cereal before we were allowed to peek in lounge. Was almost torturous at time but really got excitement going and I'll be inflicting this on DS too Grin

Wallace and Gromit films on Christmas Eve. I bought a DVD of all their films the year we had everyone from ds ( just 2) through teenage cousins to grandparents in their 70s. W and G had something for everyone.

Also nachos on Boxing Day. I am a lone veggie in.my household and am not that bothered by Christmas dinner, but give me a pile of tortilla chips, refried beans, sour cream....
