Advent calendar ideas

I fill a wooden advent calendar for DDs age 9 and 5.
Please can you give me ideas for little inexpensive things to put in? I have some earrings for the oldest one and some little bottles of fairy dust. Also ideas for activities to add on some days.

I've already finished my advent calendar Blush

I found a lot of bits and pieces here and here .

I sometimes put in a clue to where a present is that's too big to go in the calendar - I often give an Xmas book or dvd that I want to be enjoyed in the run up to Xmas this way.

Ooh thank you. Impressed you have finished. I keep them all in my bedside draw ready for Dec. The links are great and I like the idea of clues, something the elf can do.

I think it's a bit crazy to have done my shopping so early, I blame the Xmas bargains thread for getting me excited.

I love the advent calendar, it's one of my favourite bits of Xmas.

Stickers are great and I like simple activities - like drink hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream or read 'the grinch' keeps it simple on weekdays

It's one of my favourite bits too and the DDs. Stickers good and also tattoos, they both love those. I will mix it up with activities.
