I know there is a specific date on which it usually arrives, but can't remember what it is!

I was guilty of starting the countdown thread last year! I've been quietly pre-poncing for a few weeks. A little raspberry vodka here, a little mincemeat there. Defrosting the freezer and a deep decluttering. Gifts started including an advent calendar for my mum.

Nothing major you understand. Just laying the groundwork Wink

25th of September I think, exactly 3 months before the day!

I'm so glad it's not just me who has been thinking about Christmas!

I've planned out my Christmas menues (using my stash of christmas mags from previous years) with shopping list so I can buy bits every week until Christmas, gift lists written out, bought most of DD's gifts and stocking stuffers, planned my baking and handmade gift giving. Blackberry and apple jam made and ready to have festive labels and pretty ribbons to go in hampers. Got a few swaps planned on facebook for other gifts too.

Going to start planning soon for our first Northpole breakfast or Elf breakfast not sure what to call it yet but it's going to be the party that marks the arrival of our Elf on the shelf.

I did quite a bit of crafting last year and haven't given a huge amount of thought to crafting this year. What's everyone else doing?

We are at my parents this year so was worried about not poncing BUT we are having Xmas at home with the in laws before we go so I can begin.

I bought nigella's Xmas book in the summer so need to have a look for ideas

70 loving your 3 pud idea

I think a trio of poncy puds is a fabulous idea but I'll need to explore cooking containers a I've made individual Christmas pudding before and they were pretty generous. Couldn't do 3 puds that size!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one Grin Really looking forward to this Christmas, we should be moving at the end of October so I really want to be extra poncey in our own house! Already started collecting blackberries for vodka, and eyeing up the local holly 'patch'. Not found any pine cones yet tho Hmm

Banker if something is so poncey the term poncey seems inadequate then it could be called poncetastic. Think homemade drinks brewed from handpicked ingredients, drying bits of orange to craft a table centre, that sort of thing. It's really just a tongue in cheek way of taking the puss out of our own enthusiasm for christmas.

70isaLimitNotaTarget I got sick of miserable trifles last year and did a Tiramisu (decaf) for christmas pudding with homemade mince pies for anyone who wanted and it went down so well.

DH has asked if I can make a south african pudding called a fridge tart. it's basically crushed up coconut biscuits mixed with butter and pressed into the bottom of a dish then chilled to make a crust. Then topped with Carnation Caramel, then topped with whipped cream layer then crushed peppermint aero on top with big fat cherries. It's gorgeous!

I'm also doing a pecan pie cos it has nice crunch. We don't really like Christmas pudding (for shame!)

cheeky that fridge tart sounds amazing drools

Fellatio where aaaaaaare youuuuuu?

I am relying on you all for vicarious poncery this year because I am not hosting and I will have a newborn. I can't decide if I am relieved or disappointed about this. DC will be too little to stir the Christmas pudding but not too little to be dressed as one

Talking of this thread, I tidied the garage today and found the rotten hydraengea heads I had stuck in a bucket of glycerin this time last year and forgotten about The wreath didn't happen, obviously.

OwlBeThereForYou · 18/09/2013 16:04

Haha Awks I think I remember that convo about hydrangea wreaths! Sounded lovely at the time, think I'll stick to pine ones tho or I will definitely end up with rotten flowers...doubt I'd remember to treat them so they'd rot in the house lol!
