What have been your great present buys that you'd recommend to others?

DD(11) came home yesterday gushing about this book that her friend had and how much fun they'd had with it. It has now gone on my party present list. It has great reviews too.

I know teens in particular can be quite difficult to buy for, especially if it's someone you don't know very well. So thought I'd share it for the greater good.

Also for pre-teens, this book always goes down well Crazy lettering

For younger girls, I like getting these Paper fashions and Wishing stars

A DSil of mine loves cross stitch. Cross stitch 'packs' are really fricking expensive. I downloaded SHEDLOADS of free patterns onto a pendrive. She also likes sharks, so I bought a small cuddly shark, cut open the mouth, removed some stuffing, inserted pendrive 'body' (leaving computery bit sticking out), sewed it shut. She loved it.
I've also done this with recipes, photos and music. Relatively cheap definitely personalised.

Who wouldn't love the gift of warm feet? Sheepskin slippers for grown-ups, or gorgeous felted ones for kids - Halflinger or such like. Obviously you'd have to know what size, and they're not particularly cheap, but they do go down well ime.

Scratch and Sketch Art books - my kids love them (8 & 6) and it keeps them quiet for hours. Make good pressies too. You just have to be careful when ordering as some in the series dont have outlines in which makes it tricky for younger kids. Princess Bella, Dino Dudes both have the lines.

Book sets from the book people to split amongst various kids. Best bargain was a set of 12 A4 Dr. Seuss books (cat in the hat etc) for £15. I am going to team each book with a selection box (bought in a multipack from wholesalers) & that's all the kids of family & friends sorted for under £2:50 each. Not bad.

Dream catchers look on amazon range from about £3.50-£5 for a nice one have purchased loads for gifts for family and birthday parties everyone always says they love them.

Check out if you can a company called Lebkuchen Schmidt - they do mail order parcels/hampers of the best gingerbread you'll ever eat. I'm thinking of getting quite a few pressies for people well need to post things too. They're not cheap but really really fabulous and incredibly Christmassy.

I'm always raving about ordinance survey as they do personalised maps (with your location of choice at the centre) for £16. Great for that 'person who has everything'!

I'm really pleased with some 'build your own' sticker books I got for ds - one is cars, one is trucks, they are published by usborne I think. J can think of a lot of little boys (and some not so little) who would appreciate these.

Ooh I love the build your own sticker books, they look good here's a spaceship one released in november - it's quite hard to find sticker books for my DS (as opposed to DD to is into everything) but he'd love that.

DD was ecstatic to get this one for her birthday. Usborne generally are just brilliant.
