Christmas

What 'big' present are you getting DC?

If you do big presents, at all. We don't every year but this year we are getting:

DS1 (7) table football
DS3 (2) kitchen

Really struggling with DS2 (5).

They also all have birthdays very soon after Christmas.

We also know that DS1 and DS2 would like bikes, but we have no where to store although if I could guarantee we would go out on them they would be a good choice.

DS2 like sciencey things, nature and superheroes. I have thought about making him a boxful of bits tailored to his interests but I think at 5/6 he is just going to see a massive football table and think he hasn't got sonething like his brothers. He also is desperate to learn to play the guitar and would be made up with one but without having lessons first I am reluctant.

Anyway what are you all planning so I can get some inspiration or do you have any suggestions?

If bikes are main present I would get them something else (could be little) that they can definitely play with on the day - just in case it's too snowy/rainy to try them out, it might be quite disappointing to have nothing new to play with IYSWIM!

They're both after those talking minions from despicable me. Although they're quite popular at the moment and may be hard to get hold of.

What does IYSWIM mean? Sorry, I'm kinda new to mums net.

Ours only really get one present and I don't normally even think a out it until Mid December at the earliest.

However I caught youngest ds looking at a marble run like this one, it was a similar price too! So may get that, only four presents left to buy now!

Ah I had a marble run like that when I was a kid. I saved up my pocket money and bought it from a car boot sale. I loved it!!!

I think my eldest had one like it that he bought home from a school toy fair.

Our youngest loves building things and was staring at one at his friends house with envy in his eyes!

DD has asked for a guitar. I thought about pre paying for a couple of lessons also and if she likes it then she can carry on lessons at a weekend.
It's nice that she doesn't want something techy!
We do the Christmas fairy who leaves a bag at the door with pj's and a DVD and something crafty for her to do Smile

DD(4) would like a bed with a slide. Fine by us, she needs a new bed Grin

I think a guitar is great idea OP! I know lots of people who just sort of taught themselves as kids, strumming away.

Ds1 is 6 and has asked for an mp3 player and Now thats what I call music that he saw the ad for. Will only get him a cheap one from argos, he doesnt want anything flashy! Saw moshi monster headphones on amazon and will get him the Phineas and Ferb soundtrack too. Apart from that he is getting lots of little things and we will get tickets to the panto the week before Xmas. Someone on here made a really good point, my ds cant remember what he got for christmas last year, but he remembers all the outings we went on and remembers what he bought in the Christmas market etc. So we will spend a bit extra on that instead.

Ds2 will be 2 on 8th Dec and we are getting him a balance bike. Will only get him Duplo and things like that for christmas.

A climbing frame. And a brother Wink

They are getting cheap stockings and one smaller present each (like something costing £5 or so each) and then are sharing that. I'm so exciting because for years they've been begging. I've saved up for two years and won some money recently and I can't wait.

No idea! DS will be 19 months and at the moment his favourite toys are the stair gate and any drawers or cupboards. Humph.

I usually get a few big bits for DS (4) but this year he's getting a tablet. I'm going to put some interactive books and some games on it for him, and then just get a few little bits

I think DD would like a camera. She was pleased with Fisher Price Kid Tough mp3 player for her third birthday, and they do a camera too.

Re the fairy thing.

The PJs etc just appear on their bed from Santa after their Christmas Eve bath, usually he has left the DVD too. He sort of magicks it here, for want of a real word.

They love the PJs and get very excited. It was a MN suggestion from years ago.

I also like the hamper idea that some people had, a stocking just doesn't seem to fit anything in so am thinking about getting them a basket each with buts and pieces they love football/Star wars notebooks, pencils etc.

A few people have suggested the guitar might be a good idea. I might save it for his birthday in January.

Ds 8 is desperate for a raspberry pi kit. I'm nagged on a daily basis about it already.

Ds2 is 9 mo and will be just turned one at Christmas so will get something like a scuttlebug.

But they also get a a stocking and some other gifts off Santa.

We buy them a token gift only. (Ha!)

DS will be 2.8 and might get a My First Scalextric set. Or Playmobil. I'd like a whole farmyard of decent quality animals but they're quite expensive.

I have no inspiration for DD who will be 4 months. Maybe a year's supply of clothing. DS had loads of baby toys and at 4mo she surely won't be showing a great deal of preference for one over another so we won't be able to get something based on her 'likes'.
