When to make the cake?

Is it too early to make the Xmas cake yet? I really want to do it but DH says its too early.

Of course it's not too early! I made 2 in September last year but only used one of them so I stored the other away and feed it alcohol every few weeks when I remember it'll be lovely by christmas!

I have done mine in August before but I like doing it in September when the kids are back at school and it feels that bit closer to Xmas. The earlier it's done the better it will taste!

I did mine early sept last year and fed it brandy occasionally and it was brilliant, far better than when I've made it later on. Planning to make it early sept again this year.
