What colours do you use when you decorate your christmas tree? I'm thinking of buying a bigger tree, the kind that look like they have frost on them. I need some inspiration, we always tend to go for the same colours and I want something different. So do you have a colour scheme or do you go crazy and use all colours? I would love a real tree but think I will wait till dd2 is a bit older as I don't want pines stuck in feet or mouths!

Main tree (real, live near lots of tree farms), every colour under the sun, with a tendency to rich jewel colours and not much silver with bronze and purple beads, several strings of coloured lights and a gold twig star.

I love real glass ornaments and the main trees decorations are the result of 23 years of collecting them, helped for the last 12 years by the DDs. Including one DD1 managed to get back from a school trip from Germany.

The other trees are a very subtle, very dark green firber optic tree with a set of very traditional red, gold and green bauples on the dark diningroom dresser and a pre decorated frosty silver and bronze one with white lights that gives totally the opposite feel to our modern white conservatory. Which has icicle lights round the outside twingling in the windows.

Because of having no money a couple of years back we had to stop getting a real tree but luckily found a really nice fake one on free cycle and we love it.

We use all different colours slowly build up the decorations over the years buy new ones at different times
Many have sentimental value.

We change the lights all the time depending on when old ones break and what ones are on offer when we have to buy new ones
Currently they are white and blue.

Children have little on in there room that lights up and they decorate like crazy .

We spend a day decorating the house with lots of carols Xmas movies and hot chocolate
We love it x

We always have a real tree - I love the whole going to get it and then decorating it while listening to Christmas tunes in early December.

We have lots of snowmen/Santa type decorations on it, mostly amassed over the years from John Lewis. When DS is older we'll start collecting more grown up decorations. We have a few bells and red/silver decorations to fill it out.

We have a real one that the kids help decorate and it has all their handmade decs on from nursery onwards... I make my own beaded ornament covers and safety-pin angels too, so it has a home made theme I guess...
