When do you put all the presses under the tree? DP wants to put them under now but I want to wait til tomorrow night to stop anyone guessing! We said we would put it to the mn jury....

When the dc are in bed tomorrow night.

We used to put dd's and ds's in separate piles, but now they are older, having them mixed up slows things down and hides the fact the piles are such different sizes a bit.

ihearsounds · 23/12/2012 21:13

Presents started going under about a week ago. The only ones that don't are the stocking stuff santa brings.

CMOTDibbler · 23/12/2012 21:15

We don't put presents under the tree at all.

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2012 21:19

Why not?

perceptionInaPearTree · 23/12/2012 21:19

I don't put anything out til the night before, 1. because autistic dd1 opens them all and 2. because they look all tatty if put out early.

CMOTDibbler · 23/12/2012 21:23

For reasons I've never quite known, my mum and dad always did presents from their bed, and as its just me, dh and ds, we like doing it that way - its not like theres piles of presents as there are only gifts bought by me and dh

InNeedOfBrandyButter · 23/12/2012 21:25

I have all the familys under the tree already, plus the few pressies I bought for myself and a couple of pressies the neighbours have gave the dc. I love the look of them under the tree, makes me feel all warm inside.

inchoccyheaven · 23/12/2012 21:32

Ours all go out tomorrow night after kids have got to bed. Santa brings a few for their sacks which are wrapped and left outside bedroom doors.

Got to be extra careful this year though and put them on boxes as our male cat has taken to peeing on stuff left on the floor and I don't think we want our presents having that happen to them [ angry]

NotMostPeople · 23/12/2012 21:35

My Dc's are old enough to 'know' and there's no way we'd put the parcels under the tree until Christmas Eve.

jojane · 23/12/2012 21:41

We normally put pressies from family and friends under tree as we get them but ds2 is just 2 and unlike last year has cottoned on that presents may contain toys for him so would rip them open the second I left te room so they are all in the study and will be put under tree Xmas eve when they are all in bed

DizzyCow63 · 23/12/2012 21:45

Presents for people outside our house are put under the tree as they are wrapped, presents from other people are put under the tree as they are received. Presents for DC will be put out once they are in bed tomorrow night, and I will give DH his on Xmas morning.

ISawSantaKissingThePortlyPinUp · 23/12/2012 21:49

All of our presents are delivered by Father Christmas on Christmas Eve but they know that the presents are bought by us, wrapped and then picked up by the elves ready for the delivery by FC. Only their stocking presents are from Father Christmas.

MirandaWest · 23/12/2012 21:51

There's a few under the tree there would be more if I had wrapped more up

sausagesandwich34 · 23/12/2012 21:55

nothing goes under the tree until the dcs are fast asleep on christmas eve

if santa gets here and sees presents under the tree he might get confused and think he's already been and therefore not leave any presents!!!!

Presents from other people go under the tree, Santa comes in Christmas Eve and puts presents in and around stocking. I like dd's to know that other people but them presents as well

sanityawol · 23/12/2012 22:02

We have four dogs in the house... I learnt a couple of years ago not to put presents under the tree until we go to bed on Christmas Eve. Any hint of food and they don't leave the bloody things alone, and it is amazing how silently they can steal stuff when you do turn your back for a second.

bonnieslilsister · 23/12/2012 22:07

We have presents to each other and from family and friends under the tree. All intact at the time of writing this Smile and stockings are hung up on the sofa and santa over fills them when he comes.

Chubfuddler · 23/12/2012 22:25

Me too mrsdv. You can't move in our sitting room Christmas morning for the piles of presents.

fuzzpig · 23/12/2012 22:50

At the moment, not until DCs are asleep on Xmas eve. They aren't quite old enough to resist opening them I think - at least, I'm not prepared to risk it!

Sad to read about break ins :( got me all worried now!

fuzzpig · 23/12/2012 22:51

Sanityawol, when I was young I bought my cat one of those treat stockings with catnip mouse etc... put it under the tree as soon as it was wrapped... Oh the carnage!
