BIL is spendng Xmas alone this year (long story as to why!). He will be working on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day morning, will be tired and grouchy and probably eat crap food (he is a crap cook) and be a bit miserable.

We'd like to put together a hamper or some sort of Xmas Box for him, with some bits and pieces to cheer him up. Any ideas for what to include? He is quite blokey and flash, a bit posh, too (barrister!). Grin

Decent bottle of red. Selection of cheeses, and biscuits. Remote control car, or a yoyo! Radio Times.

Will you be seeing him to hand it over, or do you have to post it?

If you're seeing him:
pork pie
nice nuts (oo-er: sorry have come over all Carry On there)
mince pies
cheese and pickles and crackers
Whisky
Book
CD / DVD
Nice bubble bath or shower gel

Nice cheese. Waitrose do hampers you can still send. Maybe, though it is a bit 90s, a Carluccios hamper with nice pasta and sauce, antipasti and wine. Even he could cook that surely?

DP (male) says: stilton, port, oat crackers

we second the radio times

I may be missing the point but why don't you invite him to yours? At least for tea and Christmassy battleships Xmas Grin

Decent bottle of claret. Mini Christmas cake or mincepies. Stilton. Tangerines. Box of chocolates.

Smoked salmon and some naice porn. Grin

Claret, Port, stilton (or a good Cheddar), crackers or oat cakes. Maybe some nice antipasti type meats and/or smoked salmon. Potted shrimps or a nice pate? (m&s had some gorgeous ones the other day, including terracotta pots of duck or pork rilettes). Some part-baked rolls so he's got some fresh crusty bread?

Mince pies, after eights, clementines

Definitely the Christmas Radio Times
