Hi, I hope someone can help. I need ideas for a gift for a lady who has just had a major operation. Ideally about £10-15 but happy to spend up to £20 for a lovely gift. I would like something thoughtful with meaning but I can't think of anything!!

Is the surgery relevant? So if for eyes, or varicose veins...? Is she convalescing - books? I always like food (greedy sod that's am), or cookery books (or booze).
Plant for the garden?

How well do you know her?

my freind is having surgery soon, I did a whip round with some friends and we bought her a kindle.

The surgery is relevant as I thought maybe someone would have some ideas for post surgery products! Just a thought! She is a mum of a friend who has been very good to my daughter with sen, always looked out for her and I want to show the same kindness back.

A plant for the garden....I do like that idea.

I had surgery this year and wasn't allowed to leave bed/sofa for 2 weeks.

I liked aromatherapy/homeopathic products as even though they might not have done what they claim it was nice to "hope" they were especially as I was on lots of pain killers.
You sort of enter an alternative dimension as you can't do much. I wouldn't have wanted a plant as I couldn't have looked after it and it would have worried me - she may well be able to of course!

I had to go on a diet as I wasn't moving much. I really liked little amounts of tasty food tapas etc because the painkillers took away my ability to eat to much (and I couldn't get to the loo on my own). I really liked a mini hamper of requested food my mother got me.

Books, magazine (with subscription) and some hair care things would all be useful IMO.
