So I am planning on doing a beef joint to go with the turkey. I plan to cook it in the slow cooker as the oven will be full. Does anyone know if I should add water/ stock or anything else to it ie should I season it can I rest it on potatoes and carrots? Also how long do I cook it for and is it best on low, medium or high? Thanks

Choose a cheaper, fattier cut, resting on onions and carrots (or potatoes if you know they work), adding no liquid, and cook on low for about 8 hours.

I did a beef joint in my slow cooker yesterday. I cut a potato in half so it wasn't sitting on the bottom of the slow cooker. I covered it in crushed pepper corns and put about 1/4 pint of beef stock at the bottom. My slowcooker is a 6.5L one. I cooked it on high for 5 hours and the meat was perfect.

My mum is a pro at this the beef is guarenteed to fall apart put a dessert spoon of oil and four dessert spoons of water in the slow cooker put it on low put ur beef in before bed and leave it to cook all night until about 11-12am then turn off and then put back on for 1 hr before ready to serve it should be the juicyest beef ever Grin

Great thanks, I should have done a trial run but left it a bit late.
