What to serve mid morning on Christmas day?

My, DH and DD (2) will be having pastries for breakfast and then GPs will come round about 1030 to open presents with DD and I expect they will stay for an hour or so. We will then go to theirs about 1530 for Christmas lunch.

But, I am wondering what to have to eat then they visit at 1030? Will have out coffee and tea. Would something like sausage rolls be okay - can you anyone think of anything more/better (not mince pies though!)

Thanks

Tin of Roses? A chocolate orange? Bag of chocolate coins?

Helpful? Moi?

Xmas Grin

More usefully, Nigella has a recipe for Christmas morning muffins - would they be of any use? Were you thinking of savoury or sweet?

Probably savoury(ish), but will have a look at the mufiins, thanks

My dad always used to do champagne cocktails mid- to late morning on Christmas Day Grin

But yes, can definitelt recommend the Nigella Christmas morning muffins - they make the place smell nice when you're baking them too.

Sweet mince pies
Bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese
Nuts and crisps

We're having lunch at around 3pm, and only having a light breakfast, so around 11ish I will put out sausage rolls, hummus, bread sticks, olives, dipping oils, crudites, crisps, mince pies and clementines, as well as the obligatory tin of Roses, all washed down with some hefty measures of gin and tonic. Gets everyone relaxed and staves off hunger pangs.

I'm coming to yours Biscuit!

I'll swing by yours Christmas for the champagne cocktail - clear a space on the sofa for me!

sage sausage rolls
parma ham twists
cheese stars
... are what I'm planning to do with buck's fizz: all easy enough for the DCs to help to make too!

Champagne and posh cheese straws

My cheese stars are at a ration of 3 cheddar to 2 flour to 1 butter...
