Tree stand has leaked...a lot!

just noticed wet (& a bit smelly) carpet around base of tree. Stand has obviously been leaking. Any top tips on how to quickly & easily dry out the carpet!?

is it dirty or clean water?
If dirty, scrub with any old soapy product first ( washing up liquid works well.)

to dry, put clean towels over the wet patch and get your kids to jump up and down on them . Then get a really big heavy person to do the same. Change the towels till they are no longer obviously damp.

If you can get under the carpet stick a mug or something in there to raise it off the floor.
Turn the heating up.
