Would it be any good for the Christmas eve hamper? Do you need a fair few bricks in your collection already to make it worth while?

is insane!!!!!! we have it, and love it, but by god its frustrating. trying to build a banana, or a coconut or the whitehouse out of lego isnt easy. you can do it, but it is annoying. and loud.

penguinplease · 12/12/2012 11:00

oh I wouldn't recommend. We have it and hate it, it is too hard for my children and has been the cause of so many upsets that I have hidden it and meant to sell it before xmas, I still might.

ApplesinmyPocket · 12/12/2012 11:17

We do love this game but my DDs are older (grown up in fact) and I can imagine it's frustrating for littler ones.

One tip that has made it MUCH more fun for us - if only one person models at a time, the guessers get very bored and restless waiting. Much better for everyone to draw a card and model all at the same time, and then all write down guesses for each others' models. That way everyone is happy and occupied all the time.

How old are your DC's? We have it and play it with grown ups (like Apples), and we play it in teams more like pictionary, and use a timer, where you do as many as possible in a certain time and then you keep the cards you guess right, and add up the question marks at the end. It's fab Xmas Smile

We haven't added any extra lego to it (part of the frustration fun is trying to find the last red brick etc) and have got on fine but I'm sure adding more would be a bonus! I probably wouldn't use it with younger kids though (especially if you are doing it in a timed environment), I can imagine the 8yo's I work with having tantrums if they can't make a glacier...

Bunnygotwhacked · 12/12/2012 13:21

That's a good idea Apples we will probably do that if we get it.

ah see my three are 10 9 and 5 though they are all capable of building lego independently following the instructions do you get instructions for the builds with it?

OP posts:
RevealTheHiddenBeach · 12/12/2012 13:26

there aren't any instructions, it's pretty much a 'use your imagination' thing, there are three 'levels' of card, and then four categories - you get a pic of each category on the card, and have to make whatever the dice says. So it could be a picture of anything from a log to a syringe (sp?!) to the Taj Mahal! It really is more like pictionary than normal lego, in terms of how vague some of the creations can be before someone guesses it!

example of a card

Bunnygotwhacked · 12/12/2012 13:31

What level card is that? Love your caterpillar sounds a bit rude that

OP posts:
RevealTheHiddenBeach · 12/12/2012 13:36

sadly not my caterpillar (when i made one it was yellow and green and my DP failed to guess it Xmas Hmm) i found that picture through shameless googling, but there is some examples of different levels in this random blog post I just found!
