EFFING ARGOS!!!!

They seem to have sold out of everything. Nearly all the Lego, the iPods, nexus 7, all the things that were on ds1s Christmas wish list. He gets ONE of those things and I can't get him any of them.

I bought high street vouchers this year, the only place in this misbegotten little dump I can use them is argos, which I thought would be fine, except that argos are out of stock of everything.

The woman in the shop said "Well, it is a bit last minute...."

No it's fucking not. It's the tenth of December, it is not last minute, Christmas is two weeks away for fucks sake.

Can they be used online - the vouchers?

That is a pain in the arse, does the website have the option to order them to be delivered? If so, can you buy a gift card with the vouchers and pay with the gift card online?

Is the stock not available anywhere? Can't they accept the vouchers and ordrer in??
I agree - "Christmas" gets earlier each year. I'm sure 10/15 years ago no-one started their Christmas shopping before December, now you feel disorganised if you don't hvae it finished by then.

colditz · 10/12/2012 15:50

They can't be used online, annoyingly (another reason I won't ever do this again)

I will work something out, I'm just enraged at argos. I'll end up going to Leicester or Nottingham, maybe birmingham. But just pissed off that they move into small towns, close down all the local retailers, then stock sweet fa two weeks before Christmas meaning I need to go to Leicester. We used to have a seriously awesome toy shop here - gone now.

I've had the same problem with Argos. Everything I've looked up has been out of stock. This is particularly the case with some of their offer items.

I was shopping the last couple of weeks in November and it was exactly the same. I've always suspected that Argos do 1/2 price deals on stuff that isn't in stock to get people looking on the site and then buying something else instead.

If you go to Birmingham make sure you reserve everything online. Both Argos' in Brum are packed throughout December, and there are usually people wailing that they can't get what they need.

I've always found it a bit bizarre that they all seem to congregate in Argos. Every single year. If it kept happening to me, I'd either shop earlier, or avoid both Argos' in Brum. But there you go.

Hopefully you'll find them somewhere :)

SantaWearsGreen · 10/12/2012 15:55

Well it is a bit last minute in todays world.. I know before leaving it until 22nd onwards was last minute (especially Christmas eve) but now everyone gets presents in early to spread the cost and the stuff that is in vogue will always be gone first.

Elfontheshelfiswatchingyou · 10/12/2012 16:10

I'm annoyed with Argos too. I ordered stuff last week online and got 2x £10 gift vouchers. Trying to redeem them is a nightmare as everything I seem to want is instore only and I can only order online. I phoned and they are non-transferable so back to square 1. I'd offer to swap with someone but knowing Argos as I now do, they would probably refuse to honour them to another address or something. Grrrr.

MrsDimples · 10/12/2012 19:21

Could you get DS one of the things and give him the vouchers to spend himself in January? He may get the same things a bit cheaper in the sales.

canoodle · 10/12/2012 20:28

Also annoyed with Argos. I am never shopping there again. Would like to support our British high street store, but Amazon is soooo much easier, cheaper and straightforward.

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/12/2012 20:41

I can check stock in Market Harborough, Corby, Kettering area if that is any good for you.

GlumMentalDefective · 10/12/2012 21:05

The nexus is available at my local argos. Which ipod and lego did you want?

colditz · 11/12/2012 16:33

I've sorted it. Some background .... He was never going to get all of those, he was going to get one. And argos didn't have ANY. Anyway, I've ordered a shit-ton of Lego from toys r us, in local city, and picking it up tomorrow. He's not getting the electrical stuff, he has asd and all he can think of is Lego, so that's what he's getting.

Thank you all so much for running stock checks for me though, you're all so kind x
