Help - DH wants hints from ME for my present!

And I have no idea what to ask for.

I'd like a handbag, but I need an everyday one so I'd be a bit fussy about that (needs to be professional and smart, but hold plenty of rubbish but not be a "carry all".).

I don't really want "stuff" - except a printer for the house which he has already pooh-poohed numerous times.

He was trying to get me a Mac book air on his way home from work trip, but they didn't have it. I don't know do I want that though (mac os seems weird - maybe I could change, but I am used to windows).

I'd really love a spa day, but I can't see him organising that.

And what I really want this Christmas is sleep and quiet rest and gently enjoying family time.

Any bright ideas out there?

I probably should add that, because I gave no hints last year, I got a (nice, but still) lunchbox for work. While he got a hamper full of different Christmas beers and a seperate hamper of unusual treats to eat as he drank.

This year, he has also forgotten my birthday (I don't think it was on purpose - we were both really stressed at the time), so he kinda does seem to feel it should be a good present IYKWIM.

WIBU to ask for him to organise a weekend away in the spring for the 2 of us as his gift? (It's the organisation part - he has LOADS of points for flights and I probably have enough points for a hotel).

We write each other a list and email over on 1st dec.
We are both very fussy though so wouldn't just put jumper for example, but would link to a few examples of what we like and specify material ( ie 100% cotton/ wool)

It seems pointless to just by things they half might like when you can get exactly what they wanted

We usually list a range of different things and different prices

I think this year included theatre tickets to a particular show, certain type of jeans, headphones ( v specific!), white choc, a couple of small gadgety things

I'm afraid I have resigned myself to not having what I consider very good presents unless I organise it myself. My DH just isn't built that way. So I tell him (exactly) what I would like and just get a little surprise. If you'd like a weekend away I think you need to say so, give a short list of desirable locations and either describe the exact kind of hotel you'd like or just get an IOU for that part of it and organise it yourself.
It sounds like your DH is floundering a bit so some direction would be welcome.

I'd love to be whisked away for some fantastic weekend in the hotel of my dreams but I married the wrong man for that (his brother can do it - but he's been divorced 3 times so not perhaps the ideal catch either!).

Not sure how you feel about vouchers, but if you'd prefer something like a new handbag to pick out yourself, you could always ask your DH for a voucher to a favorite store. But I come from a family that are quite content to give and receive Amazon GCs and a few stocking stuffers. DH, on the other hand, says he is fine with a voucher, but really wants something to open.

Otherwise, I would suggest sending a few emails his way with links to spa weekend packages and hint away.

I write DH a list , have done so for years after he complained I was so difficult to buy presents for !
I do have to be specific though , I wanted a new handbag last year , so I found the one I wanted on the Radley website , ( ordered it myself ) and he wrapped it for me .
He does buy me lovely presents , but only because I tell him exactly what I want and make it easy for him .
He's buying me an iPod touch this year .

Take him to TKMaxx, browse handbags, give him one, let him pay for it. Job done.

Not hugely exciting but at least you get what you want.

I've resorted to leaving the Boots Christmas catalogue out with post-it notes on relevant pages before now.

Could you leave this website open for him to see? Some lovely posh smellies.
