Keep seeing it mentioned. What the bloody hell is it?

I'm not buying into it myself, but as far as I've gathered it's an elf that sits on your shelf (:o) keeping an eye on the kiddies during December, and sometimes does naughty things in the house (like making a mess) and sometimes does good things (like leaving sweets etc), but essentially moves around and the kids have to find it each morning.

I KNOW I'd forget to move him and we'd end up with lots of disappointed children :o

My charges are loving him! Dec1, he took the elf DVD and popcorn. dec2, he 'made' gingerbread men and left a bit of a mess with the finished results and some icing tubes. Dec3, he ate loads of chocs and left the wrappers all around the advent calendar. Today he was at the computer and had elf'd the family on elfyourself. Tomorrow he will turn the fridge into a snowman. The boys are loving looking for him and since I'm a big kid at heart, I love planning and making the 'ideas' all ready for MB to set up :-)

Have a look at my blog. DS loves him to bits. Every morning he goes and looks for him and throughout the day he chats to him. The elf is also a very good tool when DS misbehaves.

Some people think it's twee and OTT, but I love it. It doesn't take long to set up a scene and seeing the joy in my son's eyes is worth going the extra mile.
